what is the bouyancy charateristics of a steel 100 (both full and empty) in salt water. im just trying to figure out my lead needs for the trip.

then also how many liters (water, example a alum 80 is 10.9liters) are the 100's on internal volume (the cochrans breathing peramiter is based off the tank size and i want to keep all the data i have on my dives equal and accurate.

ah let me let you know what your duties entail. you must beckon the call of any of the ladies, which could be anything from a simple errand to a message, to hauling or cleaning gear. basically you need to ba jack of all trades and be ready willing and able to serve the ladies at any time (but ladies dont take it to far because its a 2 way street).

well i got the last of the packages im going to get in dallas today which completed the portable studio set up for me. Im almost totally packed, the camera bag is set , the UW camera rig is in its pelican case, and the dive gear is packed. now i have to pack the clothes, and the laptop and everything is set.

im getting so excited as this is gonna be one heck of a trip especially with whats planned below and above the surface.

Two last packing questions -

Do I need a cannister light? I don't want to pack it, I have a small LED which has served me well in warm water before. Let me know what is recommended.

Those needing weight will need their own weight belts, not the lead, but the belt to hold it?

Glad I saw these with plenty of time to answer!

No need for canister light...while its nice to peer under the wrecks and into the wrecks...it is certainly not needed. A light is very cool to have...but again not necessary. (If you had the small travel canister you might consider it...but its really overkill.)

As for belts...the boat has some belts but I prefer my own knowing I'll have a metal buckles vs plastic etc. And I know its my size and in good condition. So yes I'd bring the belt!

FAVOR:

Sometimes the boat has LOTS of lead and sometimes it seems to walk away! Will the drive in divers bring any extra lead that they may have JUST IN CASE that we don't have the right configurations for the Fly In Divers? Many of you have done this anyway and it has helped out tremendously in the past! Thank you! Kamala

You can ask the Cochran rep your second question. As for the first...you can drop 4 pounds of lead from your waist/pouches when diving a lp steel 100 tank which is what the rental tanks are.

I will double check with the rep in NC, but doing some cross reference between faber and luxfers site i think that the LP tanks are 13.3 liters.

well its late and doing this math im nor thinking straight so im gonna clock out since tommorrow is going to be a long one.

type at you all later

I should have some extra lead as I don't believe that I will be needing any. I have tools and enough "Save A Dive" gear for most minor repairs. As a drive-in, I am not limited severely by weight and space considerations.

I am also coming down with a VCR and DVD player for my room. See you all down there!

I realized I had not completed my survey. :banghead: I will bring it with me WW. In the meantime I know you need some information to do the shopping. I like a little diet Coke, I prefer water when thirsty, mostly red wine or bear that tastes like I have one in my hand, at the evening meal. I like a little red meat but mostly veggies fruit and :fish: , of which I hope to provide for the grill. I hope this is not too late, sorry.

I will have some lead with me that I most likely wont need diving doubles. It will be available if needed.

STUDENT :diver: , I have stage ponies rigged for your Deep Class, two 40cf, one 30cf. I want you see how a slung bottle works and experience a little comfort knowing there is a complete backup with you. :D

On the road tomorrow see everone about 6 or 7 ish. :cheerleader:

100cf is approx 15 liters, If the tanks are LP Fabers (100's) most likely 98's they then are -7.7 full, 0.0 empty. Most Al 80's are about between -1.5-1.7 full, +4.1-4.4 emtpy, so yes you should be able to remove 4lbs of lead.

So, if my computer is flashing 212 .. 212 .. 212 does that mean I can't go any deeper?

I will bring my bag-o-lead, about 60 lbs in soft weights if someone needs to borrow some to keep down. Gosh I don't miss having to dive with that stuff anymore.
