1. Anyone have recent info on water temperature?
2. Backup gear? I wasn't planning on bringing much extra - to keep my fly weight down. Will there be a local shop to rent from if something breaks?
3. O2 Analyzer on boat? I think someone said they will have one, but just wanted to be sure.
4. Where exactly are we meeting at the RDU airport on Thursday?
5. Cigars? Anyone want a few? I've been cutting back, so I'm only bringing two for me. I have plenty.

Couple of prep questions for the trip:
1. Anyone have recent info on water temperature?
Water temps vary by site as this venue has the mixing of the Atlantic, Gulf Stream and Lab currents. Wrecks further offshore are usually in the Gulf Stream which is the warmest. Wrecks closer to inshore or to the East are cooler but the sharks like to hang out at some of them so exeptable trade off.
So to answer your question temps should still be fairly warm ranging from 79 to 82. However should we get a cold spell they can drop a bit. After this weekend we'll have exact temps to report to you.
2. Backup gear? I wasn't planning on bringing much extra - to keep my fly weight down. Will there be a local shop to rent from if something breaks?
There are 2 local dive shops that carry gear so in the event of failures you'll be able to get something from them if needed.
3. O2 Analyzer on boat? I think someone said they will have one, but just wanted to be sure.
Usually you analyize the tanks before you can get them thereby avoiding the need for one on the boat. The instructor on our trip OTWDiver will bring one since we will be doiing the tanks slightly different this trip. We'll be dropping the tanks off at one of the dive shops and the boat and SD team will then arrive at 6am in the morning to analyize the tanks for you so that you don't have too. We will then load the boat with the tanks when they are done and you can analyize them again on board. While the crew of the boat and SD gets your tanks squared away, you'll be able to hang out on the boat or shop in the dive shop rather than wait while 18 people do their tank analyizing one by one.
4. Where exactly are we meeting at the RDU airport on Thursday?
Fingrabber and I are working on the flight arrivals right now so we can see what time everyone arrives. We will pick you up at your terminal as soon as possible. Please make sure that you have given us your celfone number so we can contact you. My celfone is 214-350-7003. With 9 people arriving at various times we will have our hands full to get everyone but usually we are quite effecient in this process. After we collect you we'll let you grab a bite to eat while I do the trip shopping and then we'll head for the beach!
5. Cigars? Anyone want a few? I've been cutting back, so I'm only bringing two for me. I have plenty.
thank you for asking about smoking...I sometimes forget to tell people the 'ins and outs' with it. The boat does not allow it (at least they have not in the past) and if they do it should be contained to the back end of the boat only as several people on the trip are allergic to smoke. The rooms at the motel are all non-smoking but you can smoke outside but the motel is very small and has only 7 rooms and a bunkhouse style room so depending on where you smoke you may be blowing it into another person's room. You can head to the parking area or on the side of the hotel and you'll see areas that are open enough to not be an issue.
Good to hear you've been cutting back...as you know they are quite bad for your air consumption not to mention your lungs!

Last month diving on the Papoose Min temp was 70F, Ave temp was 80F.
On the Naeco the Min temp was 77F, Ave. temp 79F.
Viz was 100+ on the Naeco and 75+ on the Papoose.
I'll be carrying spare gear, regs, computers, bottom timers, depth guages and save a dive kits.
Back at Love & Luck we have more assets if needed.
A DAN rescue pack and a lot of O2, sometimes symtoms show up well after you get off the boat.
Getting to the dive shops will be a little difficult due to traffic but between the two we should be able to get by if anything major tanks.

The Old Mav is bound for the NC Trip. I'm leaving on Tuesday from Dallas to drive there. I am excited to see my old friends and here's to making new! I have to warn you though... This old salt is so dry, I'll probably lower the ocean level by 10 feet when I dive in.
Kamala, I'll bring a check over tomorrow. Nitrox 100's please.
