my sis lives in ypsilanti, michigan and decided to succumb to my request and get certified. she and i just did a search for community colleges that taught the class - nada - and i called UM and got the same response. any suggestions? she initially wanted to train through the colleges like i did, but if ya'll have any recommendations or if she's in your area and you instruct <hint/hint> could you please let me know? thanks in advance.

I PM'ed you on this, but let me know if she still can't find anything. Many of the colleges here contract with the dive shops to run their college courses for them.
A person should be judged in this life not by the mistakes that they make nor by the number of them. Rather they are to be judged by their recovery from them.
