As of 02/28/06 Scuba_Recovery_Co will be open for business.

My Company will be a mobile unit consisting of a 24 ft motorized
dive platform able to hold 1900 lbs of equipment and divers to locate
and recover sunkin boats up to 54 ft using Lift Bags. I will also provide
for insurance companies the capabilities to assess boat damage from underwater
using photography. UW metal dectors are available to locate lost jewelry/watches/
etc... from lakes or bays. SD members interested in locating and participating.$. in
search and recovery or insurance jobs give me a PM or call me at

(870) 582-6396 leave message for Mike

Good Question Madlobster

I had to think about that one.........

My dive platform is a converted 24 ft Tracker party barge. I tossed the swimming ladder and install a HD
diving ladder like the ones you see on most Dive Boats plus 8 tank racks and enough storage space to hold dive gear for 4 divers plus crew. its on a double axle trailer and toes real well. I live just a few minutes from I30 so I can reach just about anywhere in the Cont US. My first thought was I would be able to land jobs from Houston Tx to Fl and recover boats that got swamped during our recent hurricane season. Im not against driving to the Great Lakes or the Northeast Coast either weather provided. because its not a Sea Going Craft I dont think the West Coast would be a safe place for it.

as for working for Insurance Co that only need photo's taken for there claims...
The Worlds Open.

But whatever I do where ever I go...

Ill need a dive buddy...thats why SD is the first place I started my Adds.

I just wonder how many Lobster Traps I can fit on my LiL Missy ??
Lobster fishing in MA would fall under the catagory Search and Recovery :birthday:

Well where off to a good start.
Thanks to all that have posted on this thread!

Update
Last month while I was visiting in Houston and attending the HH there. Scubapunk was gracious enough to show me around the Bay Area like Galvaston and other sea ports. there I was able to post a few flyers and talk with a few marina owners and get an Idea of what it was gona take to open up shop down in South Texas. the cost of liability insurance for operating in that area was pretty normal as far as liability insurance goes and the people I talked to down there seemed to think it was a good idea because Hurricane or not people sink there boats all the time down there accident/or??. I even explored the idea of teeming-up with companies that already offer services like this. Sea Tow and TowBoats _US do a small amount of scuba diving to cut loose propellers that get caught-up in fishing nets etc... but both the companies said that they dont have enough call for a full time scuba diver. and salvaging is like selling ice to eskimos right now! there are boats stacked up like cordwood along the coast from Houston all the way around the Gulf Coast To Florida. many of the SD members have contacted me thru PMs and have offered there help and some like Jimmy have even forwarded my info onto others that do similiar work.

All in All SDer's
with the help of all you SD Members I have got my foot in several doorways Thanks!
not bad for my first day open for business :fish2:

As much as I'd love to PM you about this topic....I'll have to wait for my "members-in-uniform" subscription to clear. I'm in central AR if you're looking to branch out into the Hot Springs area. Just Let me know.
I've really gotta get a dry suit so I'm not stuck on the shore this time of year.....
