Damn, I was sure our US presidents have been telling us we were the best country in the world for decades. I guess ALL of them were lying.

Seriously, with best wishes to our friends down under. If you guys didn't put restrictions on those older than 45 I'd consider immigrating there. I found I really enjoyed the Australian spirit in the people I met during my month in your country.

I'm with you there; I have marketable skills that they want, but apparently I'm too old for the migration folks.

That won't stop me from going and diving/spending money when the time comes, though...

I hate that - sometimes the Immigration dept can't see a good thing if it's standing in front of them. Onya Platypusman. :)

We spent a busy day - starting at a local park for a barbecue breakfast (snaggers, egg in toast, hash browns, tea, coffee, orange juice) then down to the pool for a swim (our Fire Brigade sprayed water at people playing in the pool), back home to watch the cricket. Was then turned out at about 5pm to a bush fire which took about 3½ hours (now how Aussie is that? :)) When I got home I went to a mate's place for a barbecue. All in all, it was a bewdie!!!

Would love to spend six months here in the States and six months in Australia! Then I wouldn't have to emigrate, just enjoy the best of both worlds... and the endless summer!!!

Hope it is a great day for all you Aussies.
