Jesus and I were talking about doing twilight dives. Did you get in touch with him? If not everyone who is in let me know so I can give him a headcount.

I'm in for twilight/nights - btw, moonrise all week is after midnight.

I'm thinking it would be cool to do a twilight/night dive on the 17th. My friend and his daughter are in. Let me know if that is cool for you. I'm thinking maybe the 17th, 19th and 21st for extra dives. I have to leave some time in my schedule for tequila drinking and latin dancing.

Perhaps I have missed it in this thread....but what is the name of hotel in Holbox and possibly an emergency # to leave with family back home?
Thanks so much.
Whale shark countdown!!!! :D

Jules,

I sent an email to the operator in Holbox asking this very question! I'll add the information once I get the update from him; in fact, it may be in my email right now...so I'll check and let everyone know

On the PITA subject - could we get a rough schedule for Monday? Some of us are starting to smell the salt water already and want to make dive plans for Monday PM/evening.

I sent an email to Casa del Mar and they are ready to support us - I'd just like to get an idea of arrival time there in Coz.

Thanks!!!!!
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

Jules sometimes the communication from Mexico takes a while....my experience with Mexico (20 years 20 to 30 some odd trips)....is they are the same as us 110, 2 or 3 prong with ground. I can see Holbox being no different.
You must endeavor to pursue!

Hello from Isla Mujeres, Mexico
Mandi , Jeff and I arrived in Cancun on Tuesday and then traveled to Isla Mujeres later in the afternoon.
The hotel is new, nice and very clean. The pool is about ten feet from the room and is bathwater warm. The dive shop is located two doors down from the hotel. The dive boat is adequate and is conveniently located about three blocks from the hotel.
Today, we got in (5) dives, three morning and two in the afternoon. The divemaster and crew have been very helpful and have allowed us to plan our dives as to when and where. Planning additional five dives tomorrow to end out Isla Mujeres stay. This place is out of the way and a returnable destination.

We have some very good food ranging from Italian to Mexican with a few treats in between. It is very hot and humid...but we are in Mexico and we´re diving..... ( almost all Holbox tour groups are reporting whale shark encounters this week).

Nothing really special here in Isla Mujeres, just laid back island time and lots of divers and tourists.

For those arriving in Cancun on Friday: After you clear immigrations and customs and head toward the exit door on the lower level of the airport, there is a departure pickup and departure area just outside. We will meet you all at the pickup area. there is no place to stop and wait on the lower level once you clear customs. No food and drink either. Best to grab a drink and or munches when you first arrive (upper level)
All have a safe travel and see ya Friday afternoon.

Jerry

As long as you have faith, there is hope.

Monday will be dictated by departure times for people only doing Holbox. But if I recall (and Kim can verify for us) that is roughly noon-ish. We'll catch the ferry to Cozumel and we should be at the hotel by around 2pm or so. That gives us plenty of time for a shore dive and/or to just relax and enjoy the rest of the day.

Of course if you all wish to do a night/pm dive that will work too! Casa del Mar has excellent shorediving right from the hotel!
