Marvel was a wonderful hostess and we got in some excellent dives. Cynthia came up on Saturday. It's amazing how much diving can relax someone, she was a different person after her dive. ScubaJenny also joined us on Saturday for some dives. Together, we watched SmartyJones run of of gas at end of the race. It was a festive atmosphere with everyone cheering the horses throughtout the run.

I made 4 dives in with I made 3 mini clean up efforts on the reef. Saturday night, Marvel and Jenny did most of the clean up. It was all I could do to keep the bucket ready for these two ladies. They did a great job.

We pulled out 3 buckets full of garbage off the reef, including lots of fishing line, batteries, cans, bottles (glass & plastic), washers, spoons, forks, misc plastic, other things that escape my memory right now and close to 100 lbs of fishing sinkers. That's a lot of lead!

It was a grand weekend. How can I top it next weekend? Oh, I'll go to Bonaire!

Hey I even got mysterious calls from Walters phone over the weekend...but of course ALL calls from Walter's phone can be mysterious!!! LOL!!

I am soooooooo glad you all called me to wish me a happy birthday and of course to see how we were doing! We had almost as much fun as you all did and alas...no dancing on our end either...heck we didn't even get the jazz music either! I do vaguely remember a small electronic version of Happy Birthday being played repetitively but the others seem to recall it MUCH more vividly...seems the red wine took most of my direct recollections about it away!!! LOL!!!

I'm glad you all had a blast....I sure hope lots of new members check out the fun! When is the next one set for? Let me know so we can get it on the calendar for next month!!! -ww

Hi Walter, Marvel, Krista, Jenny & Cynthia (did I leave anybody out?)

It was great diving/seeing you guys on Saturday. I hate that I missed the happy hour and the afternoon festivities (What can I say - duty called. I guess I have to keep my job if I want to keep living in S FL, Diving, eating, etc.)

Anyway, the dive conditions were nice and relaxing, as was the company. Walter, you seem to be a one-man reef cleanup event. Next time, I'll try to remember a bag or bucket so that I can do my share. I'm sure Marvel's neighbor is having a great time going through his newly salvaged fishing sinkers. From the weight of that first bucket, it seemed like you had found quite a few.

Marvel, thanks for the PM about the HH. I'll try to be a little more diligent next time about checking the board. Last week was a Work Week from Hell, though, and I had a bit of tunnel vision.

Anyway, hope everybody made it back to whatever we do in our out-of-water time, and I'm looking forward to seeing you guys in the near future.

Seems Walter was checking out some new trash collection techniques for a future S. Florida Underwater Trash CleanUp and Dive weekend tentatively set for later August. Not sure where the thread is on this but I know Marvel has created one and we are going to make it an official SD event so it will be in the Trips section very soon!

I'm hoping Marvel makes these a monthly event and lets us know the date of the next one very soon! -ww

Definietely monthly, WW! I'm thinking July 11th- a Saturday, this time. I like the idea of diving before that Jennifer & Ana suggested. sometimes, i have a hard time getting them all out to dive the day after....
