Has anyone been to Singapore? I was booking one of my flights today for my dive trip in Sept. between Bali/Timor/Singapore and it was sold out. So it looks like I may have to spend a couple of nights in Singapore and I will have a tourist day.

Any info is appreciated.

I have been there several times and my wife is from there. What do you want to know???? You can do Sentosa it is a nice touristy place, also boat quay is where "ang mohs" (what they call white people) hang out for dinner or bars, China Town or Orchard Road for Shopping, Also, you can travel most of the island on the MRT or taxi's are very plentiful. There is also the night safari, or science center thats pretty cool. Hope that helps!!! Wish I was back there as well!!!

Which end is up?

Scott... if you think I'm going to give you my Singapore dive buddy, Jenny Yee's address... think again! Actually glad I saw this... it reminded me to e-mail her to see what suggestions she has.

Back on the island... but alas my dive gear is all on the King Neptune and they aren't going out tomorrow. High and dry for me.

:elf: Dennis thanks for the info....I was beginning to think no one from SD had ever been there :birthday: ....and to think I thought for a moment....drBill....would be the guy....He only knows girls there  ....

I talked to ChinaCat and another person I met, they told me about the same thing as you. Go to the Boat Quay area, China Town, visit some of the historical stuff. Go the Raffles Hotel and have Singapore Sling and take a cruise down the river. I was going to stay at the Hilton and since switched to the Conrad as it closer to the Historical stuff and the Boat Quay area.

Guess I will have to make the most of it....a couple of nights and a day in Singapore and a couple of Singapore slings... I lost a day of diving in Timor because I did not book a flight in time :wakawaka: and wonderful finGrabber could not find a flight for me :birthday: ....things could be worse.....

Scott. I e-mailed Jenny so we'll see what she responds with.

Have a look at http://www.visitsing...l/en/index.html

I am from Singapore, although I now live in London. A day isn't really long enough to do justice to Singapore. Shopping is the easy option, but if you would rather see a few sights, I suggest starting the day with a trip to Mount Faber - observe the surrounding scenery of high-rise apartments, massive container terminal and dockyard, skyscrapers in the financial district, oil refineries in the nearby islands, hundreds of ships in the harbour. From there, take the cable car to Sentosa Island - if you have time visit the Underwater World. Then go to Raffles and have a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar. Cross over the road to the Stamford Hotel and have high-tea at Equinox on the 69th floor with glorious views over the city and harbour. Alternatively take a dinner cruise on a Chinese junk and watch the sunset while sailing round the world's busiest port. Then party the night away in the many bars and clubs in Clarke Quay or Boat Quay. Don't forget to sample the incredibly diverse local cuisine.

Hope you have a wonderful time there. PM me if you need more information.

Lily
