I headed out this morning not knowing if I would have a dive buddy or not. Upon my arrival, and much to my surprise, there were several groups of divers at the lake; some having classes and some just diving.
I landed next to a few friends conducting a class, and only moments after my arrival one of my favorite Texas Swamp Diver buddies spotted me from across the lake. It was a beautiful sunny day, enough that I'm a touch pink on my arms and face, but the water was still a little brisk.
We made a 47 minute dive with a max depth of 40 feet, averaging 20-25 feet. Water temp was approximately 65 degrees on the service, and confirmed 57 degrees below the 25 ft thermalcline. Visability was great for CSSP, being an average of 10-15 feet in most areas but slightly better in others. Though I didn't visit the platform, I was told that it could be seen from the surface. We visited the coffin, then did a swim through at the plane, and back to the dock examining all of the baby fish along the way. One area I found particularly interesting was a bank over near the rescue dock that was covered in what looked like green slime. It's usually just silt. I left my mark at the plane by writing my name in the algae just above the cockpit window. :-)
I'm ready for next weekend!
