Long story short...

20+ bug bites . . . .

12 days in *cave country*, Florida . . . :cool1:

6 plane rides . . . :sleepy:

3 very special and incredibly hospitable people . . . :welcome:

2 amusing and entertaining 13-year-olds . . . :D

1 extremely delighted, relieved and pleased Canadian in possession of a NAUI Scuba Diver c-card . . .

What a rewarding and unforgettable experience this has been for me! While the certification itself is great, it's the people involved that has made it so memorable.

The three that I referred to above -- PerroneFord (what a sweetie!), Gregg (my instructor), and Anne (Gregg's wife) -- are surely the most kind, considerate, generous and admirable people one could ever hope to encounter! I feel so fortunate to have been able to cross paths with all three and hope to do so again in the future.

Also instrumental have been Kamala and all my SD friends who have taken the time to PM, email and talk with me during this rather long and arduous journey. Your support and encouragement have meant so much!

:hiya: :D :D and :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: to infinity to you all!!!

Wow, that's fantastic! :cool1: I'd wondered where you'd disappeared off to.

Nice to know you had some fun, after all the hard work you've done getting ready for it! Now you can join us on some fun trips, instead of just reading other people's glowing reports. WAY cool!

:P  :cheerleader: :canada:

The mosquitos in Florida are wimps. The ones down in Bonaire were eating me right through my clothes, with a heavy dose of 100% DEET all over. The ones in FL were polite enough to leave me alone once I lathered up with chemicals. Even so, I'd head back to Bonaire in a heartbeat. I loved the 'no stress' diving, even with the nasty weather we had the second week. Shore exits were a little dicey since the surf was high during the tropical storms.

So, are you thinking of your Next Great Adventure? I got addicted to diving 'cos it forced me to get out of town on a regular basis, and I'm glad I did. Lotsa nice folks, great locations, and a heck of a lot of fun!

:teeth:

:welcome: to the :fish2: club!

Thanks, everyone! :o

Kim and Blackhawk,

NOW the hard work begins... finding patient and willing dive buddies to pair up with. (Any takers? :diver:)

Perrone,

I'd kill for your buoyancy! Although mine did get much better swimming around Gregg's pool (including the incline and the shallow end) on Monday. Too bad Sunday and Monday weren't reversed. ;)

Hope you can make a trip - Check the openings for Roatan or CZM -

I'd dive with you anytime - as long as I don't need a dry suit.

Know that you're always welcome at CSSP (Clear Springs Scuba Park) should you want to brave the perils of Texas diving!!!

No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.
