I will be sailing for 2 weeks from Leros to Keci-Buku in the Greek and Turkish Islands with a company called Seascape-Sail (www.seascape-sail.com) I will probably be the only diver on my ship but hope to get some diving in during the 2 weeks at sea. Has anyone done any diving in this area and what dive groups would be recommended? Thanks! :cool2: :o

I have dove around the isle of Crete. I can recommend Blue Adventures Diving on the west half of the island. http://www.blueadventuresdiving.gr/ The visibility is fantastic, normally its over 100ft, but water tends to be cool for those who are used to tropical locations. Diving there should be great...I hwas told that most dive site restrictions have been lifted this spring. You never know - you could find something interesting laying around on the bottom.

Hey Travelgal :cheerleader: ,

I took a look at the Seascape-Sail website, it looks like a pretty cool company! I assume you will be on crewed yacht with a captain? Which of their boats are you going out on?

I've looked at bareboat charters with Moorings out of Syros (www.moorings.com/destination_detail.asp?BLCODE=SYR) with the thought of sailing the Cyclades in the western Aegean for 2 weeks, but haven't done much more than just daydream. Guess I need to find an experienced crew member or two who just happen to be divers as well and start saving my pennies!
I can't recommend any dive operators, but if your itinerary includes Santorini (Thirasia/Thira), here's a possible connection (www.divecenter.gr)

I, too, have heard that the Greek government has just relaxed its restrictive policies regarding diving on antiquities sites. Hopefully, you'll get some great diving in! I know the problems being the only diver on the boat, however. I helped crew a 38-foot catamaran in the British Virgin Islands last December, and as the only diver, was limited to a handful of shallow water solo dives. I did manage, however, to hook up with an instructor (www.scubabvi.com) and had the chance to do a couple of outstanding night dives on the Rhone.

I hope you will let us all know how the diving and sailing goes in Greece/Turkey! :birthday:

Can't give any advice, but the trip sounds awsome. When do you go? Be sure and give us a trip report when you return.
