I got a new battery for my puter. Funny, I could not get it replaced in Hawaii but two of the four dive shops in Anchorage could do it?

Someone whoo knows LAX please pick a meeting place at the airport for tomorrow evening. Id like to meet everyone as Im sure y'all would.

Hey I'll have an extra computer just in case...can't tell you how many people have had a computer fail and they JUST HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED FOR THAT TRIP!

Easiest place to meet is our gate. Not sure how far in advance they assign it but we need to be near where we'll be departing.

Most of the gates are near food and drink so we'll be ok if we commadere the edge of the establishment. So if you don't see us at the gate...we'll at the eating/drinking place closest to it on either side. So if we are going out of gate 30 try looking before and after gate 30 for a pub with a bunch of crazy divers in it! :cool1:

As I recall, there is a certain timeframe of when they will allow you thru the security to your particular gate in the international terminal...it may be likely that we will meet some people there...waiting for that time! another thought...australia is NOTORIOUSLY hard on declaring food...i had a friend who hadn't seen her luggage since LAX...and after we picked up our checked bags, was asked repeatedly by customs was she SURE she didn't have any agricultural products in her bag? She kept saying no...well, they found microwave popcorn packets that she was taking to friends, said she was transporting "seeds", confiscated it and fined her $125!! I had some unopened jerky which they took away too. When in doubt DON'T sign your form until you are in their presence and can ask.."well, i've got some cookies...jerky...fruit bar.." and say you were not sure if it was acceptable and didn't want to lie, THEN sign it in their presence. :P

Yes printed is fine. We'll see if we can add you when we get there. They said it was doubtful but we'll check as soon as we arrive. k

I have a question....
Driving:

Australians drive on the left side of the road. A valid overseas drivers license is required. Speeds and distances are in kilometers. The max speed in most cities is 60km/hr or 37 mph and on country roads and highways the speed is 110km or 68mph unless otherwise stated. There are STRICT drunk driving laws and seatbelts are to be worn at all times by driver and passengers.

What is involved with getting an "overseas" license? Will they not take my Alaska DL?

Probably too late to get before you leave - I had no problems renting cars from Hertz. US license, credit card. Driving is not as frightening as you might think.
