I think we are talking about two different things..

As far as laptop computers go, Elise and I both are bringing ours, but we are flying out today to Sydney, then up to Cairns on Monday.

Wildcard is talking about diving computers and I am bringing a couple of those too.

You can ask them to check it through to your final destination. Even if it is two separate tickets. Just show them the two tickets.

Worked for me NW to Silkair (NYC to Singapore to Manado, Indonesia), unrelated airlines, bags went interline just fine and were there in Manado exactly as expected when I got off the plane. I recommend showing the airline agents the baggage tags for them to make sure the transfer goes through.

Last Minute Updates:

1. Dive Computers...I was planning to bring 2 for me, 2 for the new students but can add an extra for Wildcard. Anyone else need one? We will ask that you do some DAN research but its easy and is for a great cause!

2. Laptop Computers...I will have mine but will leave it in EV's office.

3. My Arrival: I arrive at LAX at 7:45pm and will have checked my bags all the way thru since AA is a partner with Qantas. (Good tip SecretSea18) YES I will have my phone. The number is 214-350-7003 (for safety reasons please do not post your numbers on the site)

4. Where to Meet: We'll meet at the departure gate or the nearest pub/bar to it!

5. Trip Class Update: LilMermaid and SeaTheWorld...please bring your books and knowledge reviews. Your instructor is set to go and he and I have worked out a very good deal for essentially private classes! See your email/pm's.

So, Kamala, you are picking up your bags in Brisbane before the low level flight or are they going all the way to Cairns without you touching them? Im flying AA from CLE would like to try to do the same.

Just need to know where to pick them up at.

My bags will be checked to Cairns which is our final destination for round one of flights. We don't do the low level flight until the 4th.

If you can not get your local carrier to interline you which they may or may not do...then you'll pick them up in LAX and recheck them with Qantas. Not as big of a deal since you are arriving so early!

I have never used one on a trip so would be a good experience..........also I was wondering about leaving any extra baggage at the office in Cooktown....probably not possible since we are returning to Cairns...........but thought I would check in case they had a way to get it down to Cairns for our arrival..........if not I should be ok....just have to quit shopping here!!!!!!

Ok rethinking this...we only fly from Cairns to Cookstown so if you are in Cookstown you'll take the boat back to Cairns with us. Therefore anything extra can be stored on the boat vs your room since the room will be cozy as a quad. (I have asked the boat to confirm my logic so will advise what they say.)

However, I would limit shopping just in case...

You will leave your items in the Cairns office. You will return to Cairns via boat. You will stay in the same hotel that you stayed in the 2nd and 3rd on the 11th. You are good to go girl!
