1 part Frangelica
1 part good vodka like Ketel One
Shoot down the hatch then bite into a lime or lemon that has been coated with sugar.
For some reason, the taste sensation you get is of freshly baked chocolate cake. Wierd, huh?
One can do several of these safely, too (or at least I can, and I am no longer known for high hard liquor tolerance - ahh, the days of youth when I was!!!)

If I am not planning to dive the following day, my arm can be easily twisted to sample a "few" Catalina buffalo milks (especially by my #1 dive buddy Andrea)! Have any of you tried to "milk" a wild bison?

Indeed, I have. I remember a topping of nutmeg on a delicious blend of kahlua and light and dark creme de cacao, with vodka, half-and-half, and fresh banana....sometimes topped with whipped cream depending on what bar you ordered them from.
I even made some at my home one time after a visit to Catalina some years ago. Not quite as those blended on the island, but close! This is NOT a low calorie drink.

No prob. Waiting for drbill to post his Catalina Buffalo Milk recipe to see if it is similar to the one I use. It is kind of a White Russian on steroids (plus banana).I love this shot!!! I forgot what was in it though so thanks for the recipe!!!!

The recipes vary from bar to bar, but I prefer the ones that use ice cream instead of half and half. Some use banana extract instead of real bananas.

Buffalo Milk
A local favorite on Catalina island.
¼ shot dark creme de cacao
¼ shot white creme de cacao
½ shot kahlua
1 shot vodka
½ shot half and half
½ banana
1 sprinkle nutmeg
whipped cream
a glass filled with ice
Fill a tall glass with ice. Blend ice with cream, banana and alcohol until smooth. Top with whipped cream, sprinkle with nutmeg, serve and enjoy.
So, in Dr. Bill's version, I guess you could eliminate the half and half and ice and use a scoop of ice cream instead.

My dear departed Mom would often horrify us my drinking beer and coke if no Jack Daniels was available. It made for the grossest foam. Ick!Of course after my standard glass of red wine and my occasional buffalo milk, I enjoy a good beer milkshake (yes, just beer and ice cream in a blender). Generally I only serve them to celebrate the birthday of Edward F. "Doc" Ricketts of Cannery Row fame since I don't keep beer in my fridge.

Sacrilege!
Now then, my grandpa was very fond of Boilermakers....a shot of brandy followed by a beer. But a Beer Milkshake???? Beer and Coke? Mixed together????
Whoa.
Out of curiosity I may have to have an SD'r show me the way at our next HH.....
