Helllo Ilana, we are stoked that you plan to join our other club members some fantastic Philippines diving this year! Fearless Leader Kamala aka WreckWench has made this trip several times as trip leader, and will be helping members with details like layover hotel recommendations. We try to arrange things so our members are located together from the time they step off the plane (and sometimes even coordinating flights with other when requested).

We see you are a new member since 30 September, but don't worry, another feature of our trips is the buzz between trip attendees that occurs as the date of the trip approaches so you will have a chance to exchange greetings and share ideas here in the Forums! Welcome aboard and Happy *bubbles* :diver:

Ilana we recommend booking your spot now to ensure you get the preference you want (pool vs. ocean view, single or Double Occupancy etc.) We can even help with your flight arrangements if you wish! For a modest $31 fee The Wench :blond: will coordinate with our organic travel service to find you the best price and ensure your arrival is in sync with the transfer coordination and more importantly build in that buffer time in case some of your luggage has to catch up before heading to the resort down island! Just reply here or email the Helpful Volunteer club members (like Yours Truly) at trips@singledivers.com for instructions and assistance. :diver:

Hello, Last time I stayed at the hotel berjaya merkati...I stayed alone and had no issues at all. everyone was friendly, helpful, and i felt safe. It was an easy cab ride to the massive green belt malls for shopping and the mega mall for more high end shopping, i also went to the worlds oldest china town which was cool to see and the aquarium ( which was sad and depressing). lots of places for food in walking distance. Even close enough for a night of unique entertainment in the red light district. ...it seems like a mid//-low level priced place. nothing fancy but it was clean, water was hot, and it was centrally located adnd only 40$ a night... I am not a hostel fan unless i can get a private room when i have such expensive dive gear with me... but you can get great hostel rooms for only 5-10$ in the area too... :)

Thanks girl as always very helpful. We usually get a group hotel in the $50 d/o or $80ish s/o price range. Yes a bit more but also usually in the safest areas of town OR near great eating establishments and PLENTY OF ROOMS.  Everyone is free to stay where they like but communications is not as easy when people are spread out and transportation becomes more complicated and expensive without economy of scale. And well its more fun to start meeting the group you'll be diving with for the week.

So leave the local hotel deets to us and we promise you'll be in great hands....will be in the hotel I personally stay in which will be a safe, vetted and excellent value for the money AND able to have enough rooms for everyone to have a private room if they like and not be in a sardine can with a stranger. One of MANY reasons we love our diving hotels is because they are ROOMY AND SPACIOUS!!!  That is worth its weight in gold with all our dive gear and perhaps a roommate's gear as well.

Welcome to the trip and we'll get the local hotel in MNL worked out along with transfers to the dive resort etc. :wakawaka:

Virginia the best way is exactly the way you have done so - by posting your special request here in the Trip topic! Please reply to the exact dates you wish to remain in Anilao AND specify whether you want to include diving as part of the daily package or if you plan to sightsee on land. Please know despite recent relaxing of the standard No Fly hours, due to the amount of high altitude (above 30K feet) air time we strongly prefer to honor the 24 hour No Fly time. Kamala will then contact the resort, confirm availability and then let you know how many of the Extra Days we are able to accommodate for you. (Remember this is part of the High Season so we cannot guarantee requests at the actual resort, in which case we are happy to help arrange accommodations in Manila while awaiting your 26 April fly out date). :diver:

Hi Virginia...I am really sorry I have not been able to pop in more timely. (House is destroyed by repair people who create 3 new remodeling jobs every time they fix one thing) :tears: plus all the travel I do for trips and dive shows.

That being said I just wanted to be sure that you know to return on your own (UNLESS the hotel happens to have some one to return at the same time may incur an extra charge on the transfer. I will try and verify now. while I confirm the room extra nites and diving  for you via the hotel. That means you'll be single room correct? Thank you.
