Ok sign me up. Don't laugh friend, all I have is a wet suit so I,ll be the cold one. How do I pay.

That is great news! Dive_Girl recommended several dive shops nearby that you can rent gear from or you could rent from a shop in your local area - DG's shop is in Vancouver, WA. Check Websites for rental rates, and I'd trust anything from her shop implicitedly. And if I'm talking out of turn...please forgive...I just have so much respect for Nicolle aka Dive_Girl that I know you'd be in awesome hands is she can help you.

I posted this earlier in the thread, but here it is again:

TACOMA DIVE SHOP INFO - for out-of-town divers. I suggest making your tank/weights/gear rental reservations now!

Underwater Sports (this shop has hours listed and they are open on Sundays 9am-6pm)
Lighthouse Diving Center (this shop has hours listed and they are open on Sundays 10am-5pm)
Tacoma Scuba (Tacoma's newest dive shop, but I couldn't find the listed hours)

My dive shop, Seven Seas Scuba, is located in Vancouver, WA. If you are interested in renting gear from there, click here for rental info, click here for contact info. All gear is less than 2 years old and we rent hp steel 80s convertible DIN/yoke valves.

This from Bandito's Website:

Bandito Charters would like you to have an enjoyable trip. This usually starts with bringing the right equipment for our Northwest climate. They say if you can dive in the Northwest, you can dive anywhere! For new divers, visitors to the Northwest needing rental equipment, or the experienced warmer water diver here is a recommended list:

NOTE: Bandito Charters does not normally provide any equipment. We can provide rental tanks, weights etc. by prior arrangement with Rick. Please visit the rental link on the left for more information.

Required Dive Equipment:

Mask, snorkel and fins.
Wet or dry suit. Water temperature is between 50 - 56 degrees. We recommend a 7mm if using a wet suit.
Hood, gloves, booties.
Weight belt or pouch weights for integrated BC's, ankle weights etc. Please remember that more weight is necessary in colder salt water than in warmer salt, or fresh water.
Full scuba cylinders / tanks. Typically 2 unless your on a three tank trip. We do not fill tanks onboard the boats. We can provide rental tanks, or refill your tanks overnight for people diving with us a second day.
Buoyancy compensating device. (BCD)
Regulator(s), pressure gauge, depth gauge, compass.
Dive computer or dive tables.
Dive light (required for night diving)
Glow (Cyalume) stick, battery operated marker, or strobe for night dives.
Certification Card.
Gear bag for all this stuff.
Please leave large totes, hard (Pelican) cases, or bins in your vehicle. We will provide a crate for the miscellaneous gear besides your assembled BCD.

Optional Equipment:

Pony bottle with regulator, Spare Air or other backup breathing device. (recommended)
Dive light (recommended for all dives.) Wolf Eel, Octopus, large Lings etc. are typically found between or under large boulders, in cracks, or dens that you usually need a light to locate, and truly appreciate the beauty of the animal.)
Dive Alert, and or scuba signaling device with reel i.e. sausage, deco bag etc. (optional unless on a planned decompression dive)
Save a Dive Kit: O-rings, silicone, spare straps, hoses, mask, tools, etc. (recommended)
Slate.
Dive logbook- We have a Bandito Charters logbook stamp on board.
DAN or other medical dive insurance.

Due to insurance regulations we would appreciate that no alcoholic beverages are brought onboard.

Wet or dry suit. Water temperature is between 50 - 56 degrees. We recommend a 7mm if using a wet suit.
Hood, gloves, booties.

Water temps were 49 degrees last weekend, so expect around 50 degree water temps this weekend. For wetsuit divers, a 7mm farmer john (not a one piece) is recommend. If you are diving dry, please plan on appropriate undergarments including wool socks for your feet (many people here double up). Not to out anyone or anything but...WW - PACK WOOL SOCKS! :cheerleader: Hood and boots should be 5mm and depending on your comfortability you may be able to go with lesser mil gloves, 3 mm or reef for example. I dove comfortably without gloves last weekend.

I just checked on tanks & lead. Lighthouse (really close to Bandito's dock) is having a big class that weekend, and couldn't comfortably scare up 4 tanks. Underwater Sports said they'd have enough for the 8 of us, but he wouldn't reserve 'em even with a credit card. Sigh. I'll check back Thursday evening to make sure it's still copacetic with them. I'll just fly and pray.

Here's a GoogleMaps link to Underwater Sports (253) 588-6634 for those of us from out-of-town:
http://maps.google.c...7,0.043259&om=1
Apparently they're a tad hard to find, and a lot of folks end up on the other side of town using other on-line map engines.

Oh, and I called Rick earlier, and he wasn't able to provide tanks.

My dive shop, Seven Seas Scuba, is located in Vancouver, WA. If you are interested in renting gear from there, click here for rental info, click here for contact info. All gear is less than 2 years old and we rent hp steel 80s convertible DIN/yoke valves.

I'd go for this, but do you *really* want to haul 16+ tanks up to Tacoma if you're covering all 8 of us? That's, ummm, 580lbs or more just for the tanks. I'm lucky if I can fit 3 80s in my trunk. Do we need to pay a fuel surcharge for the shipping? :dancing:

OT: Please thank your shop owner for buying the convertible Thermo valves! I keep having to swap the DIN on my reg out 'cos folks don't want to c

I just got off the phone with the main store. There is a no reservation policy due to inconvenient cancellations that have occurred in the past, but in my conversation with Ken from the main store, he explained that the store does have the right to override the no-reservation policy, however to do this you will not have the right to cancel your reservation for any reason.

They have directed me to have you call Janet mid-week to make your reservation. :wakawaka:

And no, I don't have the capacity to haul tanks for other divers. Any divers renting from my dive shop, would be responsible for picking up and dropping off their own rental equipment which is normal rental protocol here. But, Desert_Diver keep in mind you are only needing to reserve tanks (4 total) and weights for you and WW. Local/semi-locals either own their own tanks or can make their own arrangements - no need to task the out-of-towners when we have less time constraints. Just reserve tanks and weights for the two of you unless you have had other divers contact you.

I have 2 alum 80's I could lend out if anyone needs to borrow them.
I am sure the "ugly stepsisters" would love to spend sometime in the water.
I also have a bit of extra weight I could bring along. They are mostly hard lead weights.
You would just need to bring a belt along. I do have two weight belts but they belonged to my daughter and well.. she is really tiny not sure they would fit a real person.

DG ~ Thanks for all your help.. Can't wait to see you Sat night and actually dive with you on Sunday.

I wonder if the currents are good for Sunrise. That is a great dive.
I have never done it from a boat. I guess I am just stubborn.
Can't say I love the hill but I have made it to the top every time.

I would love to dive the treasure hunt but I have a beach commitment till 1 pm.
Hope to dive it next year.
