Yeah I know: I've been branded a non-group person - doesn't play well with others. I am so upset. Let me know if you want to have some fun, without the drama - I'm good for that.

No, pranks fall under a totally different area...So, I guess putting kibbles and bits in someones BC pocket or attaching a hot dog to them just before they splash is wrong?

Holy cow, I saw that fish! Wish I had my camera with me (aint that always the case) as this was the biggest rainbow I have ever seen. Do you see him often? Saturday was my first time at Dutch.BTW, did you see that 2ft rainbow trout? I'd like that fish to feed me.
I admit I sacrificed a few crayfish to the bass too, but ordinarily I am content to observe nature doing it's own thing.

Feeding by wild critters is an essential part of "natural" selection. In natural feeding situations, it is often the weak (sick, wounded, etc.) that are caught by a predator and weeded out of the prey population leaving healthier and smarter (?) individuals to reproduce. When humans interfere by capturing prey using our often more effective (and less selective) methods, we may subject the healthier and wiser (?) prey to higher predation levels. This negatively affects the population genetics of the prey population.
Correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding (tenuous at best) of evolution is that it takes hundreds of years at least before genetic changes take significant effect? "Changes in allele frequency over time" is something that I have read over and over.
I have seen bass shadowing turtles in much the same way they approach divers here, so I don't think that the behavior is that un-natural. Just the frequency of that particular feeding technique.
This is also not a natural environment, being a converted quarry, I am sure artificially stocked, so in essence a giant fish tank. In other words what happens in Dutch, stays in Dutch.
I don't like the introduction of things like cheese whiz, but in the wild the occasional feeding of fish from a natural source shouldnt hurt anything. I think places like Stingray City have the potential to cause more impact to the environment, but one could also argue that the experience instills a sense of wonder for the people who go there ( mostly Cruisers) and they are more inclined to help protect marine life. [Edit to add] My mom still raves about her experience there, like 10 years ago. [End edit]
Kind of like someone who goes on a whale watching trip is more likely to send a check to the Save the Whales Foundation the next time they get a letter, instead of just throwing it out.

ScubaDrew...Wish I knew you were at Dutch Sat! I was there!
I was with Bob (Pir8), but when you and your Dad showed up I was stressing an upcoming math test and kind shut down , so I didn't recognize you until after you left.
I will be sure to properly introduce myself the next time I see you...

"Fed the fish" through my regulayor recently. Not a pleasant experience for me or the guy behind me on the throw line!!! Sorry Ski!
No worries, DBD, I always keep my reg on until I step on boat deck. A more memorable sight is your motivational dance for Tacky Tourist Contest . You and Moose should do a LadiesNight Gig.

What I find interesting is that on two different dive trips that I have been on, the Dive Masters have taken food down to feed the fish. I was always confused about this, and thought well maybe they know something that I don't. I will say that the one dive site where they took the dog food down to feed the fish, had tons of fish poo in the water! It was gross trying to swim through it. I don't know if the two are related, but it's the only dive site where I noticed it. I also didn't understand the purpose of it. It's not like they needed to do it to attract the fish, there were tons of fish everywhere.
They are trying to put on a show for you. Guess it backfired...
The dog food is a bad idea. If you are gonna do it, do it right.

Everything worked out ok, thanks. And I was probably under the tarp most of the time. I had a yellow hat on...
