I'm heading out solo Dec 22-29, 2007 on the Explorer Ventures liveaboard to the Turks & Caicos aboard the Turks & Caicos Explorer II and could use a buddy...
The boat will probably sail half full, so lots of room and great dives all week long!
Check out the trip at the EV site
And American just dropped prices, so I am buying today for perfect flights at about half the cost I was looking at on Monday. This may not last, but basically they seem to have dropped the holiday blackout on the cheap seats and loaded the advance purchase discount fares to PLS that you may see in non-holiday periods.
They also have a Bring a Buddy special for December 2007, so if you have been with EV before, you might qualify for the 20% discount (read the fine print details, but I never have been on an EV cruise, so I may qualify as your bring a buddy -- But heck, find a third person with an offer to split the 20%. Then we are talking about a SD group trip! ).

Thanks Bob, I have the opposite problem. Work is closed all week and I get holiday pay instead of a week of vacation to use some other time of the year...If I didn't have to work, I'd go with ya Mike.
So, time to swim with the

The group taking the boat out on the 29th will be staying at Marshall's the night of the 28th if you can drop by. Am sure there will be some sort of celebratory festivity... Wenchie said something about buying you a beer or something...I'm heading out solo Dec 22-29, 2007 on the Explorer Ventures liveaboard to the Turks & Caicos aboard the Turks & Caicos Explorer II and could use a buddy...

It is a wonderful trip. I did it solo October 2006 and had a blast. Also everyone was more than happy to add me as another dive buddy, of course I am a girl.
Enjoy the trip. I'm hoping to get a trip in come the spring. Unfortunately, I am so busy with work no diving for the rest of the year. Unless you count check out dives at the lake for my students.

Na, we will probably be in Provo that night, but I can't swim that far to meet up in Marshall's AND get back in time for my last night berth on the T&C Explorer...The group taking the boat out on the 29th will be staying at Marshall's the night of the 28th if you can drop by. Am sure there will be some sort of celebratory festivity... Wenchie said something about buying you a beer or something...
But I have a flight tonight and weather is heading in to the northeast today...
I might just catch Kamala on the inbound while I'm sitting around in DFW, so I'll tell her you said she will buy me that beer...

Thanks Victoria for the positive feedback! (great to hear when I drop a few bucks on a whim). And yes there are lots of great trips coming up again next year, maybe see y'all then...
It is a wonderful trip.
that makes three great SD divers that have survived diving with me that can't go. Now lets see... was there anyone else I didn't ditch at depth on a U-boat...
oh well, all that free alcohol...

Enjoy the trip! I'll be in snowy & cold Denver for the first half of the week. At least it will make Houston seem that much warmer!

Diving was nice with most of the dives off French Cay and West Caicos We skipped the NW Provo dives since the weather report looked questionable for later in the week. I did lots of bad vis dives off Provo in the mid-90s so I was actually very pleased with the captain JF's decision. Actually everybody on the boat (including the divemasters) were very happy with the modified itinerary that the captain brought us to.
I did not take U/W photos, but there was pretty decent walls/coral, good fish count and nice variety. Highlights were the curious reef sharks and the numerous spotted eagle rays, turtles and giant crabs. The first for me was the fingerprint nudibranchs.
Not much different from other liveaboards I have done outside of SD groups trips, but I would definately give them a thumbs up. We ended up having 4 couples and 8 solo travelers on the boat and they we able to put all the "singles" in their own cabins. Thats something I never saw on my Aggressor trips but maybe that was since on the Aggressor boats, many of the people on my weeks definately had paid the S/O upgrade.
Great sunsets and sunrises (weather turned out to be perfect all week)
If anybody is making a trip decision and wants to ever get any info on the Turks & Caicos Explorer II, please feel free to PM me...
Now, time to clean that gear

Just did an Aggressor trip to Fiji - they put 2 singles in single rooms w/o them paying the upgrade - might depend on if they have the room.
Glad you enjoyed your trip!!
