When there were no dry snorkels in pretty designer colors, all hoses were doubles, masks were round or HUGE ovals and the wetsuits had beaver tails...and not an octo in sight.

See it all HERE.

CAUTION: 19 minutes long, but worth the effort.

I picked up a mint (never used) DACOR oval mask for $4.00 at a dive shop here in Houston. :)

Note that the new "Aqua-lung" product barely gets a print mention in the ad--and NO pictures (pictures cost money).

Cool ads, John. I still have my Aqua-Lung "Mistral" double hose hanging up in my office.

Here is my excellent condition Aqua-Master. I'm still toying with the idea of taking diving on a SD trip, with a stage bottle for backup (no Octo)

Each wreck has a tale to tell about its life and its demise.

If you are observant while diving in dark places listen to the account each has to tell, You cannot come away unaffected.

.... and the wetsuits had beaver tails...

I know this is not exactly on topic, but one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my diving years happened on a six-pack boat on the south shore of Puerto Rico. We arrived at the dive site and prepared to do back rolls off the railing on both sides of the boat. I did mine, but when I looked up, the diver who had been sitting next to me (my buddy) was now suspended upside down on the side of the boat, never having reached the water! He had unwittingly passed the beaver-tail part of his wetsuit under the boat rail, so when he back-rolled, he was attached to the rail. I laughed so hard I nearly drowned. No harm done, he was freed by the crew and dropped in, and we did an awesome dive in the black coral.

Just hilarious though.:lmao:

I found an "Old School" Dacor oval window dive mask in pristine condition at Sea Sports Scuba for a measely $4.00 last summer.

It sits on my bookshelf now as a conversation piece... ;)
