A word on referals.  I am happy to teach people that want to put forth the effort to learn.  But if someone shows up for class and opens the text for the first time, I dont want them in class.

What Jim said...

Well, WW mentioned a month ago I should check out the "professionals" section. I have been busy with many other endeavors including my favorite toy... my boat. Just having checked out this section, I have to "second" the quote of Jim's. I am PADI MI (not currently active), TDI/SDI Instructor (through Adv. Nitrox/Deco procedures), DAN (a bunch of courses). Have numerous specialty ratings and "first aid/life support" ratings incl. EFR. Having grown weary of the type of students that Jim mentioned, I have decided to conserve my time for personal diving and for people that are REALLY interested in learning. My primary interest is making certified divers better divers and less "dependent" on their buddies. My other notable diving ratings include Adv. Trimix and Full Cave Certifications. I really do have thousands of dives (not meaning to brag), and teaching open water students just doesn't allow me to impart the amount of "diving knowledge" into them that I like. Although I was initially certified in a "know-it-all" course decades ago, I understand that marketing and industry growth depend on attracting students (numbers) and reasons for teaching "non know-it-all" courses are valid. That said, I really want to work with the people I mentioned above that want to really "dive in".

Good to meet y'all!

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Just finished my PADI DM about 45 mins ago. So I'm PADI's newest divemaster and PADI doesn't even know yet.
