Hey gang...

You all get to help us design the new look and feel of our updated message board. While we are still working out all the bugs...trying to get the galleries back online....and soon offering new features such as CHAT, we want to develop a custom look and feel for our community.

Here is how YOU can help.

In our current Christmas theme, key aspects of the site are all represented by holiday and winter motifs and icons.

SD is designing a custom skin as they are called that represents diving and our unique community. Here is where YOU come in...

What motifs and icons do you want us to use to represent read and unread pm's? or the buttons on the site? and even the background?

Please share with us your ideas for motifs, themes and icons to use and we will combine those into the custom background we are having developed for the site.

List your suggestions in this thread and once we can post pictures if you have visuals to post feel free to do so as well. Or you can send any suggestions to kamala@singledivers.com along with graphics or visuals if unable to post them in the thread.

I think it would be cool to use different tropical fish (like buddy) or little divers as icons since were a diving site

Couple of things I would look at....

1. Change the background color of the forums from the present Lt. Grey or blue to a light Red…run a white stripe through it signifying a divers flag. Then possibly add a Manta and or other elegant peaceful creatures of the ocean into that.

2. Change the colors of thread headings from a black to a blue or red.

3. Use more 3D looks/Colors on the Board.

4. Rotate colors monthly.

Most importantly set yourself apart from other boards…..Be unique...different!

ADD SPELLL CHECK!!!
You must endeavor to pursue!

Great ideas Scott! Any others? We will be starting this project soon so need any other feedback you have.

How about a sunken treasure theme? Or someone suggested clam shells opened and closed to denote unread and read mail.

How about a small picture of the place we have been , of a dive or resort, from members pcitures, that change every so aften, taken from members photo gallery on main page or the Main portal page. , surfing the net for diving. I sure everyone who puts up pictures would not mind them being showcased. Then the newbies looking could see how much fun we have and the many beautiful sites we dive. :cheerleader:

Sonny, for that to work we need to have our galleries working :cheerleader:
The clam shell thingy should be easy enough, I had that for my trash can on my old PC

I like the idea of a rotating gallery ... I've never been to the cave divers board, but the big dive board has one and it's my favourite feature.

As for the rest of the board, while a dive theme is certainly needed here, I'd recommend to keep it subtle. If it's too overdone, it clutters up the board and becomes tiresome... FAST!

This is how Cave Diver Forum does it...Registered members can do straight from the thumbnail to the related Member Gallery....the four images change at random with each visit...

How about making the questionaire on line so that we can fill it out as part of our profile.

I love the idea of a chat engine.. that would rock.

Add spell check. Avoid clutter. Stay with blue or black. Lots of red is hard on the eyes.

I think getting rid of the really old topics and posts would help with the clutter....
