Hey!!

how many divers are interested in a trip on the Cooper River to hunt Megalodon teeth???

I've just found out that WreckWench is researching a dive operator on the Cooper River, South Carolina, so our members can hunt for Megalodon teeth themselves! No more buying these artifacts or having your friends give them to you!

Update as of 4-27-06

Tentatively the dates are Aug 25th, 26th & 27th. The optional day of diving would be the 28th for those interested. We need at least 4 people to do the optional day.

I've been wanting to do that trip for awhile but since it's such a long ride I'd like to combine it with something else down that way or as a stop on one of my Florida trips. Also in talking to the op WW is researching I found because of tides and currents there are only a few good windows to do it.

UPDATE:

Currently we are looking at the last weekend in August which should be prime for the tides and currents allowing us to get in 4 dives a day vs the 2 that you can get if you just go on ANY ole day.

Also we need to set it up as a 3 day trip BUT we can add an optional extra day for those that want to get more value out of the drive or the flight. (This is a VERY nice option indeed!)

Tentatively the dates are Aug 25th, 26th & 27th. The optional day of diving would be the 28th for those interested. We need at least 4 people to do the optional day.

The max number of people we can take would be 12 people. The depth is 20-25 ft max and it is like doing a night dive. You will need good lights as the vis is only 4 ft. But the last 4 ft are very clear...just first 20 or so are not.

These are prime dates that were inadvertantly left off the calendar so are the only ones left that we can get.

I can't make this trip as I have trips already planned in the end of May/June and NC in July, but I would be interested in one next year. I absolutely adore Charleston spending almost every weekend there for about a year when I lived in Atlanta! I also have family in Goose Creek, so making my way back sometime would be great.

Yep we do know the good spots...correction our boat operator does. And its more than knowing the good spots...its reading the river...and the tides and how to 'see' what you are looking for. Stay tuned for more on this exciting trip!

The dates will be August 25th, 26th & 27th with the 28th being an optional day of diving and with 6 people interested so far we have enough to fill one of the two boats! I think this trip will be a hit so I will make sure that we have a great timeslot for next year as well. The boat operator is a member of SingleDivers.com and has been since last December. In fact I did not know that he had his charter business when I met him and he joined the board at the WBP Florida show! He has agreed to do a feature series for us on diving the coop...so everyone will be much more prepared for what to expect and how to find the prized trophies...TEETH!!!!

I go to Charleston every year, but I already have my Charleston trip planned this year for June 1st-5th. So unless my boss is willing to give me more vacation days then I'll have to pass. Maybe next year.
