I was watching a documentary about Christmas the other night on television. a NASA physicist figured out that by making use of the international date line, Santa Claus would be able to extend his stops going down and coming up chimneys a little bit longer than the darkness hours that make up Christmas Eve.

Still, this would mean that Santa would have to visit 7,000 homes per second during his gift giving rounds.

Maybe some of you have children who are old enough to question their belief in Santa? Maybe they have caught you placing presents under the tree or in stockings? For some, this must be a sad time.

I started realizing this the other day while getting my hair cut and listening to conversations among mothers about whether or not their kids still believe in Santa. They were telling stories about questions from children and getting caught in the act of placing presents under the tree. I could tell that there were mixtures of feelings that their kids were growing up.

Relax. Take heart. The professional instructors at SingleDivers.com are always ready to think fast and render advice concerning all kinds of topics such as this one. For those parents who want to continue to keep the magic alive and who don't mind creating deep seated self-esteem issues in your children, I offer my solution to the belief in Santa Claus:

Child addressing either mother or father: "Mom/Dad, I thought Santa Claus was the one who is supposed to put presents under the tree. Why are you doing it?"

Best logical adult answer with elements of total honesty: "Sweetheart/Sport, you know that Santa Claus brings presents to all the good little boys and girls at Christmas time, don't you? Well, you weren't very good this year and Santa isn't coming to our house so I decided to get you some presents myself."

Master this and the magic could last in your family all the way to grad school.

That reminds me, I need to get my Festivus Pole out...

Also, from the look of CMT's new avatar I think she got into the Egg Nog a bit early... :thankyou:

7,000 homes a second? Why that doesn't give him much time to eat the cookies and drink the hot chocolate, does it? I never had to deal with this issue since I didn't meet my son until he was 17. Althogh he didn't believe in Santa at that age, I think he believes in me.
