From left to right: Jennifer(Marvel's neighbor), Joe Scuba, another neighbor, George, Pete (learntotflynow) csolski (Cynthia), Walter, Marvel, Mike (newbie), mamm (MaryAnn), and the back of Claire's head. Pretty nice setup! Thanks to Cynthia and Brad who supplied the awnings. And yes, that is Marvel's side yard.

I went on a boat dive in the morning with a non beach diver. We went to the Sea Emperor a wreck off Deerfield Beach. We were some of the first divers in the water and found two rays who wanted to play and also found a nurse shark. Sorry about the specks, but the ray insisted on playing in the sand.

Our first arrival was Wesley (scubawes1), who drove down on Friday night from Orlando. Foolish guy- I promptly put him to work cutting up tomatoes & onions for potatoes salad & burger fixings. Since both of us love onions, I have to admit we got a little carried away with them making the salad.
The next morning, I woke up at about 6:20 &, coffee in hand, wandered out to see if anyone had shown up for the sunrise dive. Sure ‘nough, Wes informed me that Walter & Lee (phree337 from Jacksonville) were in the water already. Wes, gentleman that he was, had locked my door when he went out to meet them & had left his truck keys inside. He skipped the dive rather than wake me up to get them. The two of them were out about an hour or so. When they came back in, we were joined by Maryanne, my neighbor & fellow diver Mike & his wonderful non-diving girlfriend Laurie. The seven of us walked two blocks to Mulligan’s for breakfast. When we got back, we ran into Mike from Texas just heading into the water where Pete (beapilotnow) was waiting for him. We geared up & headed out to dive ourselves.
There was a little south current & surge when we went in so we headed north toward the pier. Just a nice, leisurely hour+ dive. When we came back in, a canopy & a bunch of coolers had magically appeared- filled with stuff & brought by Cynthia (csolski). Claire was there & also Kevin (Idive2) from Ft Meyers.
Honestly, so many people were showing up by this point that I totally lost track! Pete brought his girlfriend & her daughter, Mike, Jill (nextariel) & Joe Scuba came from their boat dive. Mike (mike) from Pompano, my Neighbors George & Jenny (an instructor & turtle lady). Brad & Carol from Orlando- Brad is a diver who happened to be coming down for the weekend to compete in a rollerblading race nearby & when Cynthia told him about this, brought down another tent top. Thanks to them, we stayed wonderfully cool in the 90+ degree day. My work buddy Sylvia, still working on finishing her certification, hooked up with Jenny & she’ll be certified by the end of next weekend. Lee & Joe took turns on the grill. Scuba Jenny came over for a night dive & brought a few the local scubaboard.com gang with her- Nathan, Klaus, Angie.
We dove & ate all day- Lee had the most dives- five. Wes & I wound up with four apiece. Wes made his first night dive last night- a little nervous when we started out but Lee & I had to practically drag him back in when it was all over. The water temperatures were so warm that I actually dove my third dive without a wetsuit. One slight hitch- I forgot to take the weight out & when we dropped down & I had to start handing off weight to Walter & Wes. I just couldn’t get off the bottom with my six pounds & a steel 80!! Later in the dive, Lee took the three 3 pounds off Wes- he had been swapping out gear configurations & was underweighted so all worked out well.
Critters? All the usual suspects that live in my yard- lots of angels, parrots, grunts, jacks, a few tarpon a sea urchin or two. .I think someone mentioned a nurse shark. We saw a bristle worm on my first dive- I hope Lee posts a picture of it. On the night dive we saw a large mollusk, lobster, crab, shrimp. We played with an octopus & I actually got to pet a turtle who swam towards us instead of away.
That’s about all I can post for now- you’ve seen Jill’s pictures so you have an idea of what it was like. I hope that lots more of you guys come out & join us next time around!!

Lee, You're a great cook! If your day job doesn't work out, you have something to fall back on.

Nextariel and everyone else that wants to post photos of this event, I made a separate Photo Album for:
SingleDiver.com Events & Functions Photo Gallery
Events, Happy Hours, Get togethers, and Dive Days.
Inside this category, you will find:
S Florida Regional Dive Day & Happy Hour, July 10th
AWESOME beach diving on Saturday & follow it with a BBQ/Happy Hour! Great turnout.
Here is the Link: S Florida Regional Dive Day & Happy Hour, July 10th
Post any and all pictures of this event in that album. As soon as photos start coming in from the West Coast on their Catalina Event, I will make one for them as well so be careful where you post your pictures.
Again, we all that were not able to attend are envious.

But rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--"WOW--What a ride!"
