Wreck Wench had a deal for the first week in January for the Little Cayman Beach Resort single at double price so I jumped on it and went to Little Cayman.  Larry aka Orcaman was also there so I buddied with him for the week.

I started out by going to Grand Cayman on December 31st since the flight out of Houston got in too late to hop over to Little Cayman. So I spent new years on 7 mile beach watching fireworks for hours.

The next day I hopped over to Little Cayman to the Little Cayman Beach Resort and met Larry for 6 days of perfect weather and great diving with Reef Divers. It was my first trip there (other than a day trip from Cayman Brac a few years ago) and it's some of the best reefs I've seen. It's definitely a place I'll go back to because of the excellent dive op, resort and very good food.

Some of my favorite sites were Mixing Bowl, Nancy's cup of tea, Lea Leas lookout and Meadow. Plus the day we went over to Brac for the Tibbetts wreck was flat calm and a pod of dolphins joined us on the way back.  Larry took a picture of me on the gun turret on the stern that I'm now using as my FB profile picture (thanks Larry!).

It was the perfect way to start the year with 3 dives a day, lounging on the hammocks on the beach in the afternoons and meeting a bunch of interesting divers from different parts of the U.S. and other parts of the world.

I put some pictures in my gallery here.

Hello Butch.  Thank you for the trip report.  Glad you had a great time.  Like you, I spent one day at Little Cayman, many years ago, while diving Cayman Brac.  It was a beautiful place to dive.  At the time ( over 20 years ago ), they had a Nassau Grouper they named Charlie.  It would follow divers around, wanting to get pet.  Great for photo ops.  The wall there was amazing.  Eventually, I hope to get back.  Ed

Thanks for the great report AND the great plug! We are doing Cayman Brac this year BUT will have 1-2 days in Little Cayman as part of the pkg so the best of both worlds but a better price point AND MORE LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE!!!  (Yes shameless plug for our Sept 2017 "Caymania Trips to Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac". ;)

:welcome: home and glad you and the orcaman had a great time! :wakawaka:

Nice pictures, haven't dived Little Caymen for about 15 years when there was nothing there.  Love the picture of the little fish on the coral head, great composure.  Larry does take good pictures, fun one on the gun turrets.
