How about Andres Island? Its in Caribbean, so not that hard to get to. It is part of Columbia, but can fly direct from SJO Costa Rica I think which is safer. Security seems OK on the island, better than mainland Columbia. Maybe I should do an exploratory. Its on my To Do list. I have also become fascinated with New Caledonia. The diving looks teriffic, but its far and the Island seems expensive overall for food and lodging.
