Country:        Bahamas   (Open)

Adventure Program:      Bahamas Aggressor (Operational)
Information  Last Updated:      22-Dec-2020    15:30 EST

Bahamas Aggressor Start Date:      24-April-2021
Know Before You Go Supplement:      <Click Here to Download>
Re-Opening Notes:
The Bahamas has updated its reopening plans and arrivals policy. New arrival requirements and procedures for travelers to The Bahamas can be found at:
          https://www.bahamas....urism-reopening
Guests are encouraged to monitor the site regularly as procedures are subject to change.

A summary of the procedures as of this posting date are:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • All incoming visitors must show proof of a diagnostic molecular COVID-19 RT-PCR Negative (Swab) test.  From Dec. 23, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021, test must be taken no more than five (5) days prior to the date of travel.
  • Once in possession of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test, travelers can apply for their required Bahamas Travel Health Visa at travel.gov.bs.
    • Each traveler will need to upload their test results and provide contact information that is crucial for contact tracing purposes.
    • As part of the Travel Health Visa application, travelers will be required to opt-in to COVID-19 health insurance that covers them for the duration of their stay in The Bahamas. The cost of this insurance is included in the Travel Health Visa Application fee.
    • Travel Health Visa applications take up to 72 hours to process and should be completed with adequate lead time.
    • The cost of the Travel Health Visa is dependent on the length of stay.
  • Wear face masks where noted, practice physical distancing measures and wash your hands regularly. Failure to wear a facemask is a criminal offense and punishable with a $200 fine.
  • Be prepared for temperature screenings upon arrival, at check-in, and at entrances to attractions and restaurants.
  • Travelers who are staying in The Bahamas longer than four nights / five days will be required to take a rapid COVID-19 antigen test.
    • A person who is out to sea on the fifth day shall undergo the test at the first port of call.
    • The rapid tests are easy, quick, and will yield results in 60 minutes or less with results being provided electronically via SMS text message and email.
    • The selection of a testing facility will be arranged by the yacht's staff.

We have created a special Know Before You Go Supplement which contains the most recent information for entry requirements for The Bahamas and updated operational information for the yacht.  Be sure to review this regularly for changes.  We strongly recommend that you print a copy of the main Know Before You Go and the Supplement to take with you immediately prior to beginning your travels.

EXIT REQUIREMENTS aka INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO THE CDC'S US RESIDENT TESTING TO RETURN TO THE US:

On Jan 12th the CDC announced that starting Jan 26th anyone entering the US must pass either a rapid/antigen test or a PCR test within 72 hrs of travel to the US and produce a 'negative' result.

SingleDivers.com had prior to this received NO advance warning nor had other travel suppliers that this was coming down the pike. We immediately reached out to our Roatan supplier for whom we were traveling too Jan 23-30th as well as our Cozumel supplier for whom we were traveling to Feb 20-27, 2021. Each of them said the same thing....

  1. No problem we are all set up. WHAT? How can that be? Did you get advance warning? Their reply was "NO" but Canada started requiring the same thing 3 weeks earlier so they knew we would do it sooner or later so they were already set up.
  2. The testing is done either at your hotel or in a nearby med clinic/facility. You can do either test and the results are returned to you in one day.
  3. The cost is anywhere from $60-$125 for the test. Roatan was $63, Cozumel is $60 etc. We do not know the final price for every island yet but its always in this range. A few higher end properties are including the fee in their pricing but you basically paid for it paying more in the first place.
  4. When you get to the airport you fill out a form and show the negative covid test at the departure airport. In the case of Roatan on Jan 30th and Feb 2, 2021....the test was NEVER ASKED FOR AGAIN. No additional online forms were required and no one in the US asked about the test or the form you filled out. (This may change but for now this is how its being rolled out. If it changes we will advise you.)
  5. And that's it...its simple...easier than getting the test in the US and compliance was a breeze.

Since this is an evolving matter we will keep you updated as we learn more and/or procedures evolve. :thankyou:

The covid test prior to heading to the Bahamas can be taken as early as Monday.  The day the test is taken is considered day zero, and you have 5 days.  I took my test on a Tuesday morning.  Results came back on Thursday morning.  I logged on to travel.gov.bs and started my application for the health visa.  The process was very easy and took around 10 minutes.  I had to download a copy of my negative covid results, as well as a copy of my passport.  I quickly ( unlike my sister ) received an email saying the visa was pending, soon there after were 3 more emails requesting a payment, thanking me for the payment, and then saying the application has been processed.  These emails had a link to click on to download the health visa.  I did, and printed out a couple of copies.  The requested payment was for $60.00, and covered the insurance police.  I also downloaded that and printed copies.  It all went smoothly for me.  My sister got her covid results later in the day ( also West coast time ), and followed the same process as I did.  While my email responses came back in minutes, hers took many hours.  She finally got the email to submit her payment on Friday afternoon ( she had a fri night flight ).  She printed a receipt of the payment, as well as the email saying they received it, but never did get a link to download the insurance policy.  She got to Nassau with the travel visa alone, without any issue.  My sister and I were required to fill out a daily questionnaire as well as take a covid test 5 days after arrival.  As per Aggressor, we are exempt from those requirements on this trip, as we will be on the boat the whole week.  Ed
