This year's FireWorks on History NC Wreck and Shark Diving trip is July 1-4 diving with June 30th and July 5th as travel days.

Hey gang! ONLY 18 TOTAL can do this trip!!! Diving on History in North Carolina is a once in a lifetime dive you have to do at LEAST once!!! But I'll warn you...when you find out that there is Caribbean water with HUGE animal encounters and the most incredible wrecks that you can dive on or in...you may just get 'hooked' like some of us near and dear to you...ahem...me!

What You’ll See:

• REAL WWI and WWII shipwrecks…..sunk as early as 1918
• The U-352….the second U-Boat sunk by the US in WWII and the ONLY U-Boat in warm, clear diveable waters!
• Numerous U-Boat victims (not bodies) who fought valiantly for our freedoms!
• Large animals such as Huge Southern Stingrays, Barracudas, Grouper, Amberjack, and yes SHARKS!!!

(Please note that we ask for 40+ dives and adv open water or equilivent in experience as these wrecks are 80-125ft in depth. The water temps are 80-85 degrees and vis is 70-150ft. No wreck certfication is required however the standard nitrox blend is 30%. Most wrecks do NOT have penetration opportunities and you must be specially trained to attempt a wreck penetration. Many of the wrecks have light passthru's where you can swim in and out to the light on the other side. Most of the wrecks are scattered due to frequent storms or if inshore cable layered to prevent hazards to shipping.)

(All divers need to arrive in RDU Raliegh airport by 3pm Thursday June 30th for group van pickup. If from the local area need to arrive sometime on June 30th. Depart Tuesday July 5th from MHCity at 11:00am arrive RDU approx 3pm in time for 5pm or later RDU departures.)

I'm up for this trip too WW. I like the long weekend layouts, as I can often work my 40 hours with long days on both sides of the trip and not burn vacation time. Good way to lay them out!

Hmm...you know, I am going to be in Virginia beach from the 25th through the 2nd.....where in NC will you be going out of...? Maybe I can extend my trip for a few days and get some diving in.

What water temps would we be looking at? (I'm the original wimp!)

We go out of MoreHead City which is about a 4 hr drive from VA Beach! Two of our divemasters live in VA Beach. You might be able to hitch down with them and/or follow if you like!

Water will be 80-85 degrees...vis 70-150ft and air temps in the 80's and 90's. Definitely a place to add to your diving resume! -ww

I was just reading the info on the NC trips and saw this note. Can you post a little more info on this. I'm still interested in this trip or some of the others, just want to make sure I make the right choice.

Simply put it is not a newbie destination. You need at least 40 dives, be AOW or equivelant and feel comforable diving to 80-120 ft. You do not have to stay at the maximum depth as the wrecks have a lot of relief but the hard bottom is at those depths depending on the wreck.

I saw your diving in Cozy...you are more then qualified to do these dives!

Thansk for the clarification. I thought I'd be ok, just checking. I've done lots of deep dives, not an issue for me.

Do we have any more folks expressing interest in this trip yet? I'm disappointed I missed diving it last summer and am really looking forward to actually diving the wrecks this July. Is it July yet? Let's go diving!

I'm still interested, guys. Just trying to catch up with my family and work out multiple trip details......can't give a definite yes yet, but working flights, etc. on the assumption so far!!!!!!!

You know, I'm interested, too. Just have to work out a schedule for a family deep sea fishing trip and then can give a definite answer.
