Openings within my company were posted while I was in Cozy in January. I hit the ground running on the day I returned--getting my resume submitted, job shadowing, mock interviews, real interviews, etc.

Currently I work in health claims but my job in Florida is ending later this year. Since I have no desire to relocate to cold climates, or to give up my seniority within the company, I decided to change careers. I have worked in the same department and I have not interviewed in over 15 years so this was a major thing for me.

It was officially announced yesterday that I accepted one of the openings for property & casualty claims! Woo hoo!! Future employment means future dive trips! :welcome:

Kerry

NOTE: Moved this to our new forum for "Looking for Work" and "Got Work" and of course a great place to celebrate when you land that new job too! Congrats! -ww

Congratulations! Exciting! My job isn't ending anytime soon (unless there's something they haven't told me), but a career change certainly sounds like an attractive idea to me right now.....

Having a steady job certainly helps to enable diving, especially with all the SingleDivers.com trips that Kamala comes up with!

Its always great to hear good news - Congratulations Kerry! It sounds like an opportunity for you to grow too. 15 years in one place is too long isn't it. What's that remark about cold climates. Up North ya know is not so bad. Can't wait for the lakes to turn liquid again. Jay

Jay...its only because you have such a 'sunny' disposition...otherwise you'd be frozen like the rest of the terrain!! :welcome:

Very cool Kerry!!! So do you work for one of the large insurance companies? I work for one of the larger insurance companies, but work in the consulting practice.

PM me - I'd love to know if we work for the some company.

Kerry, congratulations! :lmao: Now, you can start planning those dive trips!

Along these lines, folks, I have a similar annoucement. Tommorrow, I am scheduled to meet with this guy who is the head of the IT department with a petroleum company here in Houston. We have been trying to meet up all week but for one reason or another have not been able to do it (he was sick today). All I can say is that I am cautiously hopeful as I have already been down this road before many times in last four years.

Do whatever you do whether it is to wish me luck or send up a prayer for me. I will keep you posted.

Congratulations!!! It is always good to be able to change jobs and still not lose the time you have all ready invested at one company.
