A professional magazine I get has 2 articles this month related to mapping reefs and coastlines! I don't often see my work and my hobby in the same magazine!
The first one is about Myanmar cyclone relief and coral reef monitoring and the second is about St Lucia's GIS program that maps on- and off-shore habitats.

That's interesting - a good tool to help plan and lower our impact on the reefs. Now if they can just make a gps that will work under water I'll never get lost while diving

My research in the early to mis 90s involved mapping kelp forests along the 54 mile coastline of Catalina using GPS, GIS and remote sensing. You can read what is probably my best publication linked here.
