Jean-Michel and Nan sent me the following announcement which I thought I'd post here since it will be of interest to most of us on this board:

Set sail and explore dangerous and spectacular locales traveling across the globe with Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures, a multi-part HDTV series premiering on PBS April 5 and 12 at 8PM with the first of the 6 hour specials Voyage to Kure, narrated by Pierce Brosnan.

Produced by Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society and KQED Public Broadcasting, Voyage to Kure will air nationally on prime time on PBS for two consecutive Wednesdays in April, on Wednesday April 5 at 8pm and on Wednesday April 12 at 8pm (each episode is 60 minutes). In this pioneering exploration, Jean-Michel Cousteau’s team of men and women, continues his family legacy and sets sail to the Northwest Hawaiian Island archipelago, the most remote island group in the world. There, they discover diverse wildlife populations above and below the sea and investigate these species’ struggle against extinction and the devastating effects of pollution, mining, fishing and development.

Using state-of-the-art technology and accompanied by marine scientists and ecologists, Peabody and Emmy Award-winning Jean-Michel Cousteau and his acclaimed diving teams will explore a thrilling array of
natural phenomena, investigate little known territories and ecosystems hundreds of feet beneath the ocean’s surface, and come face to face with the friendly and ferocious inhabitants of the deep in each episode of Ocean Adventures. Through Jean-Michel’s and his team’s observations, the series will illuminate the great need for better understanding and sustainable management of the oceans’ rich natural treasures.

I'm looking forward to this too as the promos look pretty cool. I also understand that Jean-Michel's son Fabien and daughter Celine have joined him. I have read of some of the projects of Fabien before but have never seen them in video. I've also never heard or seen any sign of Jean-Michel's wife, is she part of his team as well? I've also been curious of why his brother's children Philippe Jr. and Alexandra have not joined Ocean Futures but have instead formed their own organization Earth Echo. Both groups seem much more active than their father's Cousteau Society group being managed by his second wife Francine. It seeems sad that at least Jean-Michel and Philippe's family aren't working together.

Both JMC and his wife are wonderful, generous, nice people. I had the chance to dive with him at his resort in Fiji - see attached pic!a967.jpg

Nan was listed in the credits of the film, but I didn't see her do any diving.

Jeez, Jamie... I hope you didn't mention my name when you were down in Fiji. Actually I had a good time diving at the resort about 5 years ago. JMC wasn't there at the time, but that was fine since I've dived with him before. What did you think of the place? How was the town of Savusavu?

I wondered what happened to Philippe and Alexandra. They formerly had the Philippe Cousteau Foundation, but experienced some problems a few years ago.

As far as I'm concerned, TCS is kaput.

Well they are both very active right now. Both were at the Boston Sea Rovers clinic in March and I read that Philippe was speaking in Morehead City, NC last night.

Seems fractured that they can't all join together even if it is independent of TCS. Is there a rift between JMC and Philippe's family as well?

His resort is spectacularly beautiful. http://fijiresort.com/ It is on a point and while there really isn't any good diving right off the shore in the bay, there is good diving right around the ocean side ... a huge wall, with tons of fish including good sized sharks and barracuda.
