South Florida Monthly Dive and/or Happy Hour

It seems like there are a bunch of us South Floridians around and thought maybe we could start getting together. I was thinking it would be cool to start having a Dive trip and/or Happy Hour. I know DiveZac works here in West Palm, I am familiar with several other charters from here to Boca and i'm sure you all would have suggestions as well. We probably even have enough for a different boat each month So let me know what you all think and hopefully we will all get together soon. Everyone is welcome, so please let us know what your ideas are.

Funny you should mention that .... Zach and I have been talking about that for a week or two and we have a date and a location! January 19th at the Tiki Bar at Riviera Marina. It's on East 13th ST. in Riviera Beach on the West Side of the Intercoastal Waterway. More details to follow!

I am working on the logistics regarding SD reservations and procedures with boat/dive ops. I will keep up here as soon as I can give out more information. We will be (starting) planning the next DOM at the Jan. HH @ the Tiki. We have a great idea in the works.... Please keep your refrences to specific dive ops and boats in generic terms as per SD policies. Captain Zach

I tend to plan my dive schedule out a few weeks in advance. Balancing between different groups of buddies and skill levels; reefs/wrecks, caves, and tech dives... So, the more notice or regurality is better for me to pencil in dates...

I'd like to think we'd be able to get folks for day trips all along the east coast; jupiter, WPB, Boynton, Deerfield/Pompano, Miami, and maybe even a mini-trip/overnighter to Key Largo for good measure (And Key West after the Vandenburg is sunk...)

You are right. We should be able to do just that... dive as a club all over the state. I'm sure that we can get there but as I understand it (open for corrections here) if a specific dive op is mentioned here the booking is done through SD and SD takes care of all the rest with the help of a DOM local cordinator. I am currently awaiting a reply form admin. to help me get at least the next DOM together. You will have plenty of "pencil" time. gotta run for now (stupid job) PS... beach, lake or quarry dives are obviously easier... dz

Planning ahead so everyone can pencil in the dates is definitely the plan for future HH/DOM and like Zack said, we have already been bouncing ideas around that we will be working on at the Sat HH for the next one. Kamala and I were talking last night and there are several dive newsletter/magz that have approached her about activities that we are doing locally so that they could publish them in the community activities usually about 30-45 days out. I am hoping to start working with some of you local yocals to do just that so bring on the ideas. I am familiar with a few charters from North Palm Beach to Boca and welcome other ideas for what we can do elsewhere

Hey gang...just got some goodies out to Holly and Susie for this first really cool Happy Hour you all are havng!

Have to clean up a few admin things regarding a couple of trips last year and then finish posting the 2008 trips (which should be done this week) and then I can focus on helping you to get the DOM's going in FL!

We have a surprise that I think will help with the organization so bear with us just a tad longer...I promise it will be cool. Once it is all set up...it will be a breeze and we'll be doing regular dives all over the place in FL!!!

The "all over the place in FL" part sounds good to me!!! The Florida panhandle is a pretty easy drive from Birmingham, and schedules permitting, I am open to flying to south Florida for a DOM. I look forward to hearing about the surprise!!!

That sounds great! We have been discussing cool ideas like sunset cruises and picnics and this "surprise" is going to be great I'm sure!

Welcome Debi Oh no, EVERYONE is welcome. I just put that in to start things off being that I am in South Florida while I get input from others all over. The thought is to start getting Happy Hours/DOMs going all over the state. I apologize to anyone that might have taken that to heart. Look forward to seeing you at the Tiki Bar
