Here is an idea....


I'm seriously looking at Barbados!!! We can have a SPECIAL TURTLE TAGGING PROJECT where we get to name any turtles that we catch that do not have a name and we'll stay at Gibbs Bay Inn right across from the Beach which was a very nice converted mansion. All the rooms now have AC and the price is awesome... looking at less than $1200 for 7 nites, breakfast, 5 days of 2 tank dives and 1 dinner. I'm still working on pricing so it could be better and/or we could include more amenities.

Let me know what you think...it will be very similar to our trip THERE a few years ago.... ONLY CHEAPER!!!

Cocos Island or Galapagos!!!

When we talked in Cayman Brac, you said there might be a trip to Barbados. Any further news?

I would love to go there again... but July would be dead of winter so the water will be COLD!!! And I am not sure how many people will have enough money for a big trip after the two we have in the Spring. If we get enough...I will surely make it a group trip. And if not...I will be happy to book a small group wanting to travel on their own... we have great clout with the main suppliers of travel and can save our members $$$.

Barbados was fun and they have an amazing turtle rescue and research program we can participate in! So YES Barbados is a great suggestion and one that many people can afford...especially if they are bringing a second diver with them as several of our members have been looking at for a summer trip!

What about Dominica? I know there is a trip there in June but that doesn't work schedule wise. All the pics from Dominica look awsome!!

We are going to Dominica in Nov for a 2 week timeframe from Nov 14th to Nov 28th...can you go during that timeframe???

Of course we can book you directly if you like and save you money as we do not have any trip leader costs etc.

OK. Thanks for the feedback, Kamala!!! Will keep next winter open for either Cocos or Galapagos. Will also keep eyes open for what gets selected for July.

Cocos and Galapagos are BEST for fall...WHALESHARKS in Galapagos and temps can still be warm!!! (High 70's vs low 70's) Weather is calm AND airline tickets are priced nicely too! Summer is high season for the locals so high airline tickets.

One member wants to do Cocos for sure...I understand Galapagos is better than Cocos but she is checking some basic availability and we'll start the process. I'd like to have this all decided in the next month or so ...that way people can plan.

I am also working with a rather large group that wants to work with us and they feel they can help fill a more expensive venue like Cocos or Galapagos next fall so that will help a great deal to make this viable if they come thru.

Pretty much open for July, I would just need to be home by July 30.

Also it would be good if resort staff were able to help with gear?

Hey gang...still trying to figure out where to go in July that is NOT wintertime like both Fiji and Galapagos are both wintertime in July,.....but also someplace and is preferably reasonably priced.

As part of this thought process I thought we could tag a week in Florida onto wherever we are diving in July. (Since MIA is a jumping off point for most places we visit then being in FL already or after one of our trips is a great chance to see and dive the great state of Florida!)

My thought is to dive in the Delray Beach Area, Boynton Beach Area and the West Palm Beach Area INCLUDING THE BHB... BLUE HERON BRIDGE!!!

During the week we'd have mostly non=Floridians and on the weekend we'd be able to expand to include all our Floridian friends. So we would need the largest operators for the weekend and the smaller ones during the week. We'd have a single hotel location and just drive from it to our diving spots. We are fortunate to have a number of retired local members that could help with transport and of course many members would drive to Florida so we'd have add'l car pooling options that way.

And we'd do one my favorite dive sites...the Blue Heron Bridge!! Since its tide specific we'll choose a day or two to dive it during the week which also avoids the huge crowds it draws on the weekends.

So who's up for a Florida Bash??? And who are your favorite operators in the Delray Beach, West Palm and Blue Heron Bridge area??

I'll start with Starfish Enterprises and Capt Craig! He's got a great boat that can carry 22 but he limits it to 14.

So who else should we consider?

July won't be doable for me, as I'm planning on going with you in April & September. If anything, maybe a quick turnaround to San Carlos with my sons.

Sadly you all can't go on every trip with us...

BUT we do try to offer at least one trip a month and in some cases two!
