Yea, that's what I am hoping. If we keep things over in the corridor betweein I75 and I95, that should make it an easy tip for most folks. Those west can come in in I10.

Some options are to look at ocean diving between just north of Jax to perhaps Ponte Vedra, but that would be GROSSLY disappointing to the S. FL. folk who regularly see conditions 10x better.

We could look at Gulf Diving around the Manatee areas, but that might be better left for the winter months.

We could look at some springs like Paradise, Ginnie, Troy, or even Devil's Den. Of course these would be cold waters again for our S.FL. members.

The one thing about N.FL., is that within a minimum of driving, we can offer everything from crystal clear OW spring to caves over 300ft deep. There is pretty good variety.

If people give me some idea of the kind of dive(s) they would be interested in, I could perhaps offer some advice/options.

I'm up for anything that gets me wet and gives me a chance to chase some fish. :-D

That said, I've been to Ginnie and Vortex, but not much else, spring-wise. Jax would be cool; that's like 3.5-4 hours for me if I take the back way.

Now, if only my neck would heal up the rest of the way...

Cheers!

Jim

I'll be at the conference. Don't know what kind of time I'll have to dive though. Have to see.

I am also tentative at the Conference. I am just awaiting approval from my company for time off then.

Is there anything you would suggest for Fl first timers?

Sure, there is LOTS of great stuff to dive in Florida. Some awesome springs, lots of nice ocean diving, just depends on what you want to see. If you want pretty reefs, and warm water with lots of life, head to south florida. If you want lovely rock formations and crystal clear water, head to the springs. There are great wreck dives all over the state. Other diving opportunities are available for more advanced divers. The Manatee dives are not advanced, but they are seasonal.

Depending how far out your planning - I'd say time is running out... Springs will be 70'ish..., in S. florida, ocean is mid 80's right now, expect it to be skin temperatures for another month or so, then I'll break out the 3mm around november/december, or switch to drysuit...
