Hi all

I arrive in LAX from London on the 17 February and I leave late on the 21 February.

I haven't booked any diving but I have been reading about Catalina. It would be nice to dive the Kelp and I know that it's not just off Catalina. Has anyone any diving planned in the area that I could join in on or does anyone fancy a dive.

Thanks for reading.

You should look up DrBill, I believe he is the dive maestro of Catalina and a regular on this forum

Hmmm, it says I was the last to post in this thread... but I don't see it no matter how I try to reload this thread's page. Noticed I've been getting a lot of error messages on this log on. Here's what I wrote:

Hi Simon, PM me.

This time of year I mostly dive on the King Neptune dive boat on weekends (when it goes out, slow winter so far). However, we also have the dive park right here in Avalon so there is kelp diving to be had without necessitating a boat trip. I'm more likely to dive the park during the week when the boat usually doesn't go out.

Bill

PS- I just realized I may be working on a boat in the Sea of Cortez starting possibly the 17th. Will know more within a few days.

If you can't hook up with Dr Bill, try sending a PM to Jextract. He's a great diver as well, and dives both Catalina and the Northern Channel Islands. There are day charters available out of Ventura Harbor on the weekends - not sure about the weekends. One of the boats was the MV Spectre; you can probably search it online.

The Peace is another great boat out of Ventura and then there are the Truth Aquatics boats out of Santa Barbara. You can check the SoCal dive boat schedules on a link from this site:

You're welcome.

Just heard today that the position they were trying to fill in the Sea of Cortez was as a naturalist and not for an undersea specialist so I should be here during the time of your visit. Much as I love Baja, I'm a diver... not a landlubber!

Super, so do I have a dive buddy? I've not had much time to send PMs or emails today and I'll get on with it tomorrow.

I'm so glad I found this site. I've also checked out your Egypt trip and I'll post on that tomorrow.

Being a solo diving videographer, I'm a terrible buddy... but I'm willing to try depending on which day. I may be out on our dive boat (although you could certainly sign up for that even at the last minute). If not, we can dive the park.

Hi Simon,

I would suggest EcodiveCenter.com in Culver City they have Boats going out every weekend and check this Web site if u a computer with u its called Divevets.com you can all ways ask if anyone swants to make dive. Most of them do a lot dives at the local beach access and some to Avalon on the weekends and on some boats. Diving in California is awesome. But your best bet to get of hold of those websites.
