Note: In light of the fact that this was a dive in an overhead environment that would be considered by most divers as outside the realm of "recreational" diving, this topic has been moved to our Technical Diving forum.-- SD Management

Why did I guess the Kinghorn when I saw the approximate depth and location? I am now curious as to the circumstances. Neither article tells me enough to make an informed statement.

After having checked the story out through another source, I will bet that it makes for some interesting reading. His dive buddies in Ontario are waiting for the official report before they say anything.

There were many thanks offered to the New Jersey divers who initially located the body and clipped a reel to the body so that the police could do the recovery later. Apparently one member of the New Jersey group was using a rebreather as his post mentions diluent level.

There has been quite a lot of discussion of this matter on TDS.

All that discussion still doesn't tell me much (although it still tells me more than the message board for the region that it happened in). That discussion is not fact or there is really no eyewitness testimony except the facts that the gentleman had double tanks and deco bottles and was any extremely experienced diver for this kind of operation. To be honest, it sounded like one of those situations of if it could happen to this diver, it could happen to any of us.

It's a real tradgedy when things like this happen.

This is/was not a technical dive. It needs to be moved someplace else please.

By request of the family those who were involved in this accident will not say anything until after the funeral. It's very sad and my prayers go out to the family and his diving buddy.

Thanks hnladue - it's been moved to the appropriate forum: Diving Related Learning Lessons. My thoughts go out to his family, friends, and co-workers.

My thoughts and prayers also extend to the family and survivors. Any diving accident is a loss too great to bear.
