WW wanted me to make a post over here about a project I am involved with. In July I will be going up to NYC to help train some of our disabled vets in scuba. The scuba portion is really only a small part of the weekend but its what I do. The vets will have the opportunity to go water sking, sailing, scuba and just about any other water sport you can think of.

This is Wounded Warriors Site: http://www.woundedwa...s.org/index.htm

Here are the HSA sites for both the International and also the local one I am involved with in NJ:

That is great stuff Pir8. I can only imagine what a positive difference this will make to some of these Vets.

Where exactly are you going to be doing this? I'm not a certified instructor, but, if there is any way I can help out with some of the activities let me know, and I will try to work it into my schedule.

I will get more details and post them here, most stuff is handled by the NYPD and FDNY but I'm sure there is some way for you to lenda hand. Not knowing NYC that well I know it is an Island off Brooklyn on Jamaica Bay Hosted by the local Yacht Club

Believe me I don't think I can do enough for you guys and gals. Also I would have to say that the feeling I get from doing it more than makes it worthwhile!!!

Did you know there was an article in the August issue of Scuba Diving magazine about this? I didn't read it yet but maybe you're in there. Anyway, I'd like to talk to you about it sometime.

Interesting. I finally read my July/August issue of DAN's Alert Diver today and came across two articles regarding this -- Diving Opens New World for Wounded Vets and Going Deeper: Medical and Psychological Aspects of Diving with Disabilities.

Kudos to you, pir8! :diver:
