Once in a while, it is good to step back, take a breath, and remember to be humble. You'll never know it all - ScubaDadMiami. If you aren't afraid of dying, there is nothing you can't achieve - Lao-tzu. One dog barks at something, the rest bark at him - Chinese Proverb.

Hope all is still OK for you, Rosa, I still haven't heard from three of my dive buddies down there or my son (but I'm pretty sure he is safe).

Thanks for the update Rosa. Having not heard anything further I figured you must have been evacuated. Glad to hear so far so good. My thoughts are with you. Please stay safe.
Crazy times! Thinking of you Rosa. Please continue to stay safe.
Just got back from the mainland. Smoke in Lost Angeles was thick. It remained that way across the Channel and there is still smoke in the air "26 Miles Across the Sea." Breathing was difficult in LA, almost painful to the lungs at times. Not that bad here. Thank good ness my SCUBA tanks were filled before the fire and I'll be breathing off them tomorrow... and the refills are filtered.
Hope all is still OK for you, Rosa, I still haven't heard from three of my dive buddies down there or my son (but I'm pretty sure he is safe).
Thanks again. Things are a lot better for North San Diego, but still bad in South / East San Diego. Winds and fires reversed, and more areas being burned and people evacuated. Most of the original evacuees have returned home. I have finally unpacked and feel a lot more safe and comfortable now.
Bill what part of San Diego does your son live in?

Rosa, my post wasn't very clear on that. My son is in south Orange County near the Santiago fire. I should have separated him from my dive buddies and friends who are actually in San Diego (mostly in the northern part of the county with one whose home is in Chula Vista although she and her husband are in Hawaii right now).
Ah, I see. the good news is that no homes in Chula Vista were lost to my knowledge. So your friends will return to good news. I am sure your son is safe, and hope he gets in touch with you soon.

Thanks for the pm.. I am so glad that you and your belongings are ok! including the dive gear! I love it that you packed your fins first, at least you have your priorities right!
I didn't realize you had a fire blog going on the site. See how much you are loved!
Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and you always have a place to stay at my house!
My Best,
Juli

Thanks a lot girls!!! Really appreciate it. Now to unpacking suitcases, making lists, taking inventory etc. It will be done this weekend!!! Promised myself 4 years ago that I would do that... this has been one heck of a wake up call. Went into my earthquake kit when I was looking for my AM/AM portable radio and found crackers and tuna in there that I had labeled Oct 2000 . How shocking. Thank goodness I did not have to eat those!!!!
