FYI -

Simon's flight changes:

"Flight out of Philly cancelled. They are re-routing me from Philly through Wash DC and then Nassau and Georgetown. Arriving 1:30 or so in afternoon on flight 8698 from Nassau. Will take cab directly to the wharf.

Large red backpack of mine should arrive before I do. Not sure because of re-route. Will liase with Georgetown baggage on arrival to have it delivered to the Caribbean Explorer if it comes in after me."

Sandy THANK YOU for the update. It was quite a relief to know that you had this update. All is well here in the Bahamas! And Don was right...it paid to arrive early and chill out or have the extra day for travel snafus!

Ok back to the group...see you all in a week and Happy New Year to all! -ww

p.s. Everyone is now on island or enroute. Most arrived early and have been exploring and relaxing and imbibing! Sounds like the makings of a great vacation! See you all in a week its time for my first rum punch!

As for the trip so far, we've had one delayed bag and we are now stuck in Georgetown because of bad weather. The captain decided to dock in safer waters and we just returned to Georgetown from Long Island. We are now sitting around in the lounge of the boat checking our email and stuff. Dive ops have been cancelled pending the weather ... but it looks this is going to be it.

Today we managed to do two great shark dives though ... more later ...

I made it safely back to Birmingham a little while ago. Except for a 30 minute delay getting out of Georgetown, my trip went smoothly. It is VERY cold here...around 25 degrees!!

I enjoyed meeting all the folks I hadn't met before, and seeing others that I had met on previous trips. Thanks to Simon for being such a GREAT dive buddy and to Cindi for being a wonderful roommate.

Hopefully y'all are enjoying the remaining time on the island, and safe travels home!

Oops, guess I should have paid attention to the date. Glad you guys are back. Those of us who are just working slobs forget when you lucky travelers are coming and going.

Most of us are still in the Bahamas at the dock. A couple managed to get flights out yesterday but most are leaving on Saturday
