The 4th of July Holiday, US Independence Day, is approaching! There's nothing like a fabulous 3 day weekend in the Summer, so I have made some plans that involve things to do and things to avoid.

Things to do this year:

1. BBQ with family.

2. Go boat diving! Who-hoo! Finally finally our water has warmed up from: sheer horrifying pain, to holy ice cream headache batman, to ahhhh 50 degrees -- it's like bathwater baby! :)

Things to avoid this year:

1. Parking my vehicle on the street. Scene from last year's big holiday...

dg's little brother "who-hoo I got the best mortars!"
dg "hey, is my vehicle going to get hit by any fireworks??"
dg's little brother "no, it's fine where it is besides the fireworks shoot way up in the air."

[dg's little brother lights a mortar. One shot fires *BOOM*...then the mortar falls over pointing directly at dg's vehicle :2cool: ]

*BOOM*

[dg's family all mouths agape :fish:]

*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*

dg's little brother "well no wonder these mortars were a two-for-one at the firework stand."

2. Strangling little brother... :taz:

So what are your holiday plans?:P
It's Winter time - you know you're a diver when you're scraping ice off your windshield INSIDE your vehicle...!

I won't be diving for the 4th weekend, but I will be partaking in BBQ, waterskiing, fishing, snorkeling, fireworks. I will probably have a beer or two also.

I will be working most of the 4th-of-July weekend as I am now in occupation that requires working weekends and most holidays :cool1: But I will be sure to have as much fun as I can!

DG - im sorry when i read that , all that stuck in my head was homer strangling bart.

As for my plans for the 4th well I have to work part of it (you got to love time and half, plus a 2x base rate premium for holiday's), but then once i get off im hopefully going over to a new friends place watching fireworks and having a few. I wont be diving :cool1: but i will be having fun.

Don't we all remember our little brothers with - ahem - fondness??? I was fond of strangling mine, anyway...... What a story, DG!

This year it's a pool, a BBQ and some quality time with my daughter, son-in-law and wonderful 1 year old grandson who already loves the water and I have great plans for my future dive buddy.....just as soon as I can get him certified! :cool1:

My 4th will be spent with a full charter to the "O", complete with homemade ice cream (hand-churned), hot dogs and watermelon. Wait, I do that every weekend! :cool1: :usf: Sorry, I know that's obnoxious, but hey, somebody has to do it!

Probably more diving Sat., haven't decided yet but probably will. What else am I going to do?? (I know - obnoxious) and definitely diving again Sunday - taking an old friend that's in town to the "O".

Oh, and for all the Bonaire people - remember the guy from Switzerland we met at Divi? He and a friend will be in town diving with me all weekend - cool, huh? So when are SOME OF YOU GUYS going to come visit me???????? My nest is still empty, btw.
As for me, I'm feeling pretty scubalicious.

I am booked for diving (I think Netmage is on the trip also) on an all-day, three wreck outing. One of these wrecks is just about the best dive in all of the Miami area.

Racer... if you want to do some DMing, I'll be at balmy Lake Denton with a student.

Once I get back from diving, we'll be grilling in the back yard and going down by the river and watching the fireworks from our LDS.

Well, it will probably surprise the rest of you, but I'm my first Fourth of July weekend dive-less in many years. Oh, there is a chance I'll do one dive in the park Sunday after the crowds leave. However, my plans are to watch the parade, check out the bikinis on the beach, cruise down to the dive park without my gear just top say hi and maybe even do some surface swimming. Should be interesting.

One thing I had hoped I wouldn't have to experience this weekend was that stupid "boot up your ass" song, but an ex-Marine friend of mine sang it at karaoke so I went home.

No diving for me :teeth:
Will be staying home tonight keeping the dog from going into full panic mode.

I will be tubing a river here in Texas..(on the 5th). Praying that I don't fry my whiter than white PNW skin. :birthday:
I will be hanging with dive buddies.. so I am sure diving will be a topic of discussion.
