I was asked how to embed a web link into a message to make it 'clickable'. I thought it might be good to post those instructions here for everyone to see. It is a very simple process and we will do it step by step.
You can cut and paste a web link directly into a message, but then the link will just be regular text like this:
www.google.com
If you want it to be 'clickable', then you need to use 'http' in front of it like this:
http://www.google.com
To put a description into the link you need to use URL tags. Then it looks like this:
Link to Google or whatever you want to say goes here...
I have to use a picture to show you the raw code so you can see how to construct a url link in a message.
The http web address goes into the first set of square brackets [ ], the description (It can be anything you like) goes between the brackets and the second set of square brackets has "/url" to tell the program where to stop.
Feel free to use this thread to practise. If you want to do it privately, the same technique works in PM's so you can write me if you like.
Ask if anything is not clear. Happy Clicking...

Remember, email is an inefficient communications forum. You may not read things the way it was intended. Give people the benefit of the doubt before firing back... Especially if it is ME...!

Thank you Simon. Can you also explain how to put a photo into a post? I keep trying and cannot get anything to work if it doesn't have a web address.

Good Morning,Thank you Simon. Can you also explain how to put a photo into a post? I keep trying and cannot get anything to work if it doesn't have a web address.
If you look at the picture above you can see what I did. I put the picture I wanted to post into my personal albums on SingleDivers, then I linked to it using the IMG tags. The board software will only use http addresses for images so there is no way to directly embed an image from your PC unless you do it as an attachment. When writing a message look the to lower right of the window and you will see where to upload them. The board will automatically scale the image and place it into the message as an attachment like this:
