Any good diving around Miami Beach

I have to be in Miami Beach in early May for a week long conference. I plan to blow off a few sessions and get some diving in if I can. I understand the keys are still quite a distance away. Is there any good diving closer to or around Miami Beach?

The best place I know of for dive info on Miami is the Miami Dive Alliance. You can find them here:

Some of the best shore diving in the county is in Lauderdale by the Sea which is just north of Miami.
