Those of us who grew up during the 1960s probably remember the rock duo of Peter and Gordon. They're best known for their romantic ballads ("A World Without Love" was probably their greatest hit). This past Friday, Gordon Waller died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Norwich, CT.

Part of the "British Invasion" of the '60s, Waller and his partner Peter Asher had a very Beatles-like sound. That would make sense, since Paul McCartney, who was dating Asher's sister Jane at the time, penned several of their songs.

In addition to ballads, they also did a couple of humorous songs, "Lady Godiva," Click Here to Hear it and "Knight in Rusty Armor."

A bit of my past has gone off into the sunset.

RIP Gordon.

Something that is happening with all too much frequency I'm afraid, Rick. With Cronkite's death and the hoopla over the 40-year anniversary of Apollo 11's moon landing, the passage of time is starting to make itself felt to us Boomers.

I literally had a younger person ask me when I was speaking of the Beatles (and this was about two weeks ago!) "You mean Paul McCartney was part of another group once?"

He was allowed to live. Someone has to carry the torch to the future....

At least Cronkite was in his '90's. 64 is very young to die these days.
