I was diving today off the wall (New Providence Bahamas) and found this fairly well camoflaged little chap.
Can anyone tell me what it is?
If it's even uploaded.
Sorry, first time posting picx.
Preemptive thanks.

It was similar to a lizard but the ones i've seen here, whilst a similar size, don't have that crest down the spine. (or i've never seen it raised) I dont believe this fish was flexing or posturing defensively, i (god knows how) spotted it from about 20' above and it didn't move a muscle until i'd taken this and one other shot. Upon attempting a better macro shot ( Thanks Stan it's a bloody terrific shot for me!! :-P ) it swam a few feet away and stopped again. It's behavior, i'd certainly say, was consistent with the Lizards i've seen.
Is it possible (what with spring and all) the crest is a mating season thing and it was just a Lizard?

Oh!!! I forgot to view picture with my special 3D glasses from Avatar. AY Much better now..... I'll go with a Lizard Fish. Try to not reduce picture to 96% and repost.

A google search at this end seems to validate my thoughts. The Lizard fishes pictured (those that look anything like i'm used to seeing anyway) seem to have a lot less fins going on about them and no black spot behind the eye.
i've reposted a cropped version of my pic that'll hopefully be a little better. (I'm uncertain how i managed to reduce it 94%. It was 2.7 Mb, i reduced it to 1.44Mb and uploaded it. Shouldn't that be nearer 50% or have i dropped one somewhere else along the process?)
In any event, no amount of computering and processing's gonna turn me into David Bailey!
Thank you for your patience!

Distinct spot behind the eye & the quilled back. I saw these in Utlia.
