I don't think I should be using the forum name "racer184" when I am 95. But when do I change?
I quit racing five years ago. Although I have quit dozens of times, this time it sure looks permanent. So someday it will look stupid for me to use the name.

Should I "change" it now?

P.S. I know I cannot 'change' my username. I would create a new username and let this name slowly sink into the Philippine Trench.

P.P.S. hmmmm... what name to use next? What would be appropriate when I am 95? Underwearmodel184 ? Pornstar2051? SmellslikeBenGay184? PreparationH184 ? DroolingIncontinent184? NowWhatDidIcomeInHereFor184 ?

Hey darling name changes are feasible but not practical...having a second account is not allowed...it is against the TOS.

Name changes are usually only allowed when people use their real name and wish to change to something less well...their real name. A few exceptions have been made that don't fall into that category but they are usually in the first few weeks BEFORE someone has become known on the site. Again you may find an exception but that is rare and it is only reserved for our premier members if allowed at all.

With 6100 members if ANY % of them started changing their names we'd have chaos in our accounting systems, databases etc. And yes we cross file every member by first name and screen name. Last names are rarely used since we do not use them on the site.

AND I like racer184...its really you...whether you are 35 or 95! :teeth:

Oh I don't know. My wifes grandfather was 103 when he died and he was a "racey" old fart until the end. :P

He never was one for passing up a comment on some hottie that he saw in the old folks home or doctors office....

Kamala-

I understand the TOS and issues in offering the block on name changes. Over the last couple of years though, I have seen a number of requests for a name change.

Why not give thoughts to offering a "fee based" name change service? Kaching, kaching, kaching.... You feel the need for a moniker change, get out your credit card!

Just a thought!

Well I guess we could but truthfully it really is a PITA to make the changes everywhere...not to mention retraining the blond. :cheerleader: AND the fee would have to be substantial enough to change the acctg records and tie several systems together and I'm not sure the person would really want to pay what it would cost to truly deal with names changes on any magnitude.

I'm just saying...

And while its a great idea to charge money for the service, I doubt anyone would pay anything over a trivial amount and that does not cover the ongoing anguish of trying to deal with the way we have tied data and databases to the screen name. Since we don't use real names on the site...the screen name is king and leads off everything. In fact the worst accounting nightmares we've had have always included either people who use a nickname on the site but use a different REAL name when they pay and those who have changed their screen names.
