I will be doing 2 weeks of volunteer work in San Jose (a secular org out of New Zealand) but will be playing for about 5 days at the beginning of the trip and the last 10 days. With only 15-20 days to actually motor around and see things, I think I will limit myself to a run to the Arenal volcano and the Southern Pacific Coast (Drakes Bay area) with a weekend trip during my volunteer stint to do some rafting somewhere (hopefully class IV)...
Soooo... looks like the Cocos Islands (up North) will be saved for another trip... likely won't see the Carribean either (maybe a day trip if things work out). But there is a large Nat Park, humpback whales and Cano Island with the big stone spheres and diving down where I am thinking of going.
More than comfortable traveling solo, but throwing this out there in case anyone...
a) is looking for something to do about this time and wouldn't mind hanging out for a couple of days...
b) HAS ANY RECOMMENDATIONS - things to do, must sees, or ????
