Hey gang...did anyone write down the names of all the sites we did in Palau? If so can you post them in the thread? :thankyou:

Your wish is my command :cool2:

3 May: 1 Saies Tunnel, and 2 Ulong channel

4 May: 1 Iro Wreck, 2 Helmet Wreck and 3 Chandelier Cave

5 May: 1 Big Drop off, 2 Ngerchong inside, then snorkel jellyfish lake, 3 Jake seaplane night dive

6 May: 1 Short drop off, 2 Blue Corner, 3 German Channel

7 May: 1 Blue Hole, 2 Blue Corner, 3 Turtle Wall

This is what I have in my log book. Can’t count the Jellyfish Lake as a dive but it does get honorable mention.

Each wreck has a tale to tell about its life and its demise.

If you are observant while diving in dark places listen to the account each has to tell, You cannot come away unaffected.

Thanks Jerry!

I guess it's time to download my dives off my computers and confirm I wrote down the correct dive locations - thanks for the locations Jerry and Catherine! :D

Either that or it's time for another DIVE BRIEFING :lmao:

Wow, so now I know what i missed. I still have Truk! I had a great time and may very well be hooked on live-aboards. Greetings to all. Thanks for the great video and photos. Barbara aka scubathinker

John aka BJMathpro, Catherine aka Cmaz, Tom aka SpaceDiver, Cindy aka SunshineDiver and Diana aka Diana all joined the Truk gang ...

I think some of the screen names got changed:
Cindy aka Sundancediver
Diana aka Sharkb8

This is no doubt a great dive trip. I showed my short video of shark encounter in Ulong Channel to my colleagues at work, in which a shark came in 3-4 feet from my face, then turned and swam away. They were shocked :o
That was totally cool :cool1:

(The video is not particularly well shot or edited, but shows the point)

How was the boat trips from shore? I see this trip offered both as land based and on a liveaboard. Any thoughts after being there on advantages of one vs the other for Palau?

The rides were a bit long (40+ minutes) but all the diving is done from small boats including the liveaboards. some of the liveaboards have a docking system where the launch is hoisted from the water in a cradle. They only have a short ride to the dive site. I don't know how offten they move or how close they get to some of the sites we dove. we only did two or three dives a day from the shore base but I'm not sure the added cost of the Liveaboard would be worth it in Palau. If someone has done a Liveaboard in Palau I hope they post as I'd like to know what they think. I did get a chance to tour the Ocean Hunter III and it is a Beautiful boat!! But for me I don't think it warrants the premium price.

Some of my friends were in Palau when we were! They did one of the Aggressor boats and said they did Blue Corner 3 dives a day (great if you love Blue Corner) but not so great if you want to see the TONS of other sites available in Palau. They dove off pangas or small boats and they were not as comfortable as the boats we dove off.

They love liveaboards...but did not recommend doing liveaboard in Palau.

I think Brett aka Seawolf said he did a liveaboard the year before - you might check the trip report area and see if he put anything there.

The day dives were VERY inexpensive compared to the liveaboard. You still dive off the small boats on the liveaboard...just shorter rides to the sires when they mixed them up.

I would say go 'land based' and save the money! The liveabaords are more money than Truk...surprisingly high when they offer such great land based diving.
