I will just add a little to Larry and Kamala's write up. It was a fun trip. Certainly better with the group than without. Very nice diving. Lots of beautiful, cool and interesting creatures to see. Can't type much since recovering from carpal tunnel surgery (ironic). It was a great week diving with Dive Dominica, and staying at Castle Comfort. The hotel itself is a pretty basic dive resort. But everyone was warm and friendly... from the owners Daniel and Ari to their youngest staff members. And the master mixologist at the bar, Andrell, with excellent concoctions and all the tasty food. Fun and excellent dive teams.. especially around our sometimes crazy group. Very well organized. They also ran the whale watching trip where we saw at least 5 whales. Lovely coral, lots of marine life. Hard to believe I wasn't back in Southeast Asia. This has become my favorite place to dive in the Caribbean!!

Unfortunately, I missed the first few days of diving, when the group saw several seahorses and frogfish. After they left, on my first dive to Soufriere pinnacle, on Brenton's day off, all the frogfish and seahorses had packed up and moved, and we could not find them. But Brenton "the man" came back to work the next day, took me back and found me a lovely longlure frogfish. Thus continues the friendly rivalry between the dive guides :). I did go shorediving on the house reef with another diveguide, Irwin, aka siStinga. He made up for not finding me frogfish and seahorses by finding me a batfish and several jackknife fish. Both the batfish and jackknife fish were found just a short swim away, shore diving on the house reef. You can only shore dive there if you stay at Castle Comfort. I believe this was the only location to see the batfish. Yes, ME, actually shorediving lol.

Anyway, let me see if I can post some pics. Hope it works.

His surgery was postponed to this week. So I got to dive with him again my last day.
Thanks re the pics. But not as good as yours. Need to talk about lighting.

Yes, Kim, definitely my best Caribbean diving so far!!

It was fantastic. Many thanks to Kamala and all the wonderful friends I met on my first Single Divers trip. I can't decide what was the best feature of this trip: the great people, the friendly and professional dive outfit, the natural beauty of the island, or the great diving. Dominica is a fascinating island to visit -- I was blown away by the geology of this place. Six active volcanos form this totally mountainous island where the sheer peaks drop right down below the water for great wall diving. My favorite dive, Champagne, had volcanic gasses bubbling right up from the sea floor. The group went on a great excursion one afternoon to Titou Gorge where we swam through the most "refreshing" fresh water stream to an underground waterfall. Then we drove to a nearby site where perfect hot tub temperature water flowed into natural pools where we sat and soaked. Everything just worked out great.

I'm hooked.
