maybe we could go as a group of highly trained and skilled lionfish hunters
that would fall under marine conservation and research, right? and we could teach the local how to cook up the catch plus the local government would know how bad the lionfish population is - sounds like a plan to me!
Kimmie, I like the way you think! Have spear, will travel!
Maybe we could make it an educational trip. I stayed in Provo for another week after Mayaguana. Dive Provo teaches the new PADI Lionfish capture cert., where you net the LF, then transfer it to another mesh bag using a gloved hands. The student was making the transfer, when a large grouper swam between the instructors legs and swallowed the LF.
Are you sure you wouldn't prefer netting LF???
Time on earth is precious, time underwater even more so. Live life one day at a time. Dive your @$$ off!!!

Netting might be the way to go then!
One word: bycatch.
