Tammy you will be limited to the weight limits of the other US carreir you are flying as Cayman DOES allow (2) 55# bags to Cayman Brac. So you should be good to go!

Thank you Leslie...for a moment you had me worried but I found the same info as you did...just didn't get a chance to post it.

WW, is that official or unofficial? Doesn't this policy language on the Cayman Airways site make you nervous? It implies that flights into Cayman Brac and Little Cayman will only allow 55 pounds of checked luggage plus a 15 pound carry on, though for their other flights it clearly states that 2 55 pound bags plus a 40 pound carry on are allowed. I find it confusing. But I have traveled there enough at this point that it seems that they are not enforcing the policy stated on their website. But could they?

Looks like it is specific to non jet flights. So any jet flights into Cayman Brac should follow their general policy.

"When traveling to Cayman Brac or Little Cayman via the Twin Otter Service; Baggage allowance is 55 lbs per person (combined weight of up to 2 pieces) and only one 15 lb carry-on, any excess will be charged $.50 US per pound."

I only check one 50# bag....it's the weight of my carry-on that I'm concerned with, as it's typically 30-35 lbs and has all the vital stuff.

I don't think wearing that stuff in a vest would be comfortable at all!

Tammy my carry-on is where my concern would be as well... it definitely is over 30lbs and sometimes may be over 40... I can lift it with no problem but I did have problems when Singapore Air was weighing carry-ons. I think because it was obvious that it was all expensive stuff, they just gave me another bag and had me separate it... not sure why that was a value-add but I wasn't going to argue.
